Paladins and the Distraction / Nauseated Conditions

Rules Questions

I am about to pit my 4th level party against four rat swarms. One of the PCs is a paladin. I know she shouldn't be concerned about the filth fever contraction, but what about distraction/nauseated? Could a paladin with divine health be sicked out by rats crawling all over her and biting her?

Yes.

Would you care to elaborate, please?

Immunity to catching a disease does nothing to prevent neither the nausea nor the distraction.

Because they are considered conditions and not diseases/afflictions?

Not that it really matters. The dice would have to hate the player for her to fail the save.

Thank you!

I agree with the "elaborate more please" thing. If the negative conditions are applied because of, or through a disease effect, or if the ability in question had the disease keyword on it's descriptor, than the paladin is immune to the disease and it's negative effects.

Otherwise, yeah. You can creep the Paladin the f out if ya want.

Distraction from a swarm has nothing to do with disease.

It has to do with being completely/mostly covered in itty bitty animals that are eating you alive.

For example, I don't think army ants are renowned for being disease vectors.

(Though I'd have no problems with house ruling that a creature immune to [Pain] effects is immune to swarm distraction.)
