At 5:00 Pacific Standard Time, The Empyrean Order and The Seventh Veil successfully cleared a Tier Two Escalation for the first time in the history of the game! Many thanks to all of the people who turned out to take down the escalation in the last few days, it could not have been done without the effort of each of you. Special thanks to Fierywind who put in a lot of time coordinating the raids on the escalation, our crafters for supplying the many sets of gear, those who guarded the raid groups, and all the dedicated people who scouted the hex for events!
Here stands the valiant group that defeated the Ustalavian Champion!
We look forward to future events and clearing further hexes!

The Cloth Cap is an Everquest reference. It's a level 1 newbie item with like 1 AC. It was the default drop for when a loot-droptable on a mob had not been implemented yet. Often new expansions to the game weren't quit finished yet when they were released and when the players finally had beaten some big Raid end-boss, it could drop a cloth cap. Rage and fury ensued, off course, especially since those encounters were often not well balanced yet so could be really tough and buggy.
So the "Cloth Cap" basically means "all that work for this..."
Reading Damocles' answer, it seems they were clothcapped. Should at least drop a large bundle of tier 2 resources!

Out of about 15 escalation runs I was there for 6 of them, and the last one, it was fun, and we were able to clear out all the hexes around. The last boss has a nasty stun, and expendables don't work on them at all.
It was satisfying to be sure, the biggest worry I have was the drop rate on expendables. They were still very low, basically, we didn't even get enough of them to outfit everyone that participated 1 expendable.
Hopefully with the new changes to Bosses it will put more expendables into the game.
