Hi all
You may be wondering why Template Fu is quiet this year.
I can confirm that any reviews I normally do will not be happening as did in previous years.
The main reasons are two fold, and you deserve to know as some of you are waiting for them to start.
The two main reasons are...
a) I had a "flexible" schedule with a 3pp based on whether I progressed or not in the competition this year. I was culled, so I am concentrating on the 3pp work as priority - taking much of my spare time at the moment.
b) Having been culled, I realize that I have much to learn about magical items of the types for round 1 this year, and so I do not feel qualified to review on the entries as I have in previous years. I want to spend some study time before commenting so that I am happy that I will not be leading people astray in things I say.
So sorry, no template fu reviews this year - I may return in a month or two and retrospectively work through them, but for now, I am very busy with 3pp work.
I hope you understand.

Good luck on your 3PP work, Anthony. And, I have to say, all of your advice was extremely helpful in preparing for Round 1 this year. You have a knack for collecting all of the best advice and expressing it in a way that is extremely easy to follow. Thanks again for all you do for the community!
While you will be missed, priorities are completely understandable. Best of luck with your endeavors.
Edit: However in my opinion your critiques and opinions are invaluable and you are eminently qualified.

I am a little crushed, it was something I was actually looking forward to, but I understand having a publisher gig! WHOOT!
That said, I hope some smart 3pp recognizes you for the strong developer talent you have and snags you into their fold. If there is one thing I have learned over the years from watching RPG SS and getting in on my initial attempt, anyone can have a really great day and create their one superstar item, but it takes truly discerning mind to see the good, the bad and the ugly in something and make it shiny and awesome, while retaining balance and playability. You have that talent and it is to the detriment of the gaming community that no one has harnessed that power for good (and profit.)

That's why I am beavering away and only checking the thread once every 3-4 hours right now.
I know that every year the finalists look forward to them so I am going to try my hardest for you all to get all done, brushed up and happy to have a go.
The 3pp work, as it's my first, is a brilliant learning experience - I have discovered even when you are given 4k words, you can start to run out really, really quickly >.<

Dear finalists.
My master has been beavering away every spare minute of the day. He dozes right now before his sent email screen - 6 days ahead of schedule he worked so hard ;), finally he is able to relax.
So, I, the voracious one, aka Template Fu, am happy to announce that today, at 15:45 uk time, he submitted his first draft, complete, done, dusted and is now awaiting feedback. We still cannot say what it is he worked so hard on, but he achieved a first draft of 3,950 words out of 4,000, and is the biggest thing he has ever written to date.
He, silly human thing that he is, has released me from my cage to start looking at these entries you have in the Top 32 food store of mine.
Needless to say, reviews will be happening after all, but master needs some sleeps before it begins, and then he needs to work out how to review different item types in the same fair and structured manner of previous years.
There may be a few speed bumps too as he works through them pending on the reviews and edits that come back on his work, which still takes priority.
So gird your loins top 32, I am VERY hungry having been denied your delicious points for so long, and I will be feeding on you soon, most likely starting at the weekend.

Righto, my first review of 2015 is up
I am starting with the map round this year while I brush up my template fu-ness on item types from round 1.
Do feel free to let me know if I am providing enough, too much, etc., as I can only learn I am providing useful/appropriate feedback and improve on that feedback if I am kept informed by my fellow contestants that it fills their needs. :)

Officially a freelancer now :D
I am just finalising a list of thoughts and ideas for another item I have been asked to look at - I must have done something right because the 3PP wants more :)
What this means is that this weekend is my first free weekend for a while, which means I can get back at those maps and start posting again. Better late than never I guess ;)
