Robust, Full-Featured PC Generator?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

I'm looking for a character generator for our Pathfinder campaign, but one that actually WORKS, presents a nice, easily-printable character sheet (even if it's multiple pages), and most importantly, that does full calculations and includes (or has available) fully integrated modules for optional rulesets like Mythic Adventures and (most importantly for me personally) Ultimate Psionics (from Dreamscarred Press).

In short, I want to be able to input ability scores, feats, Mythic abilities, etc. and have all the math properly work out, appropriate number of attacks per round (and damage per attack), etc.

It may be the "holy grail", but I'd like to look for it.

Hero Lab isn't doing it for me; it's not an intuitive program (for me at least), costs more than I'd really like to pay (particularly for subsequent modules), etc.

Anyone know of anything?

For what you're looking for, Hero Lab is about as "easy" as you're going to get. There are Excel sheets and some websites that do very basic calculations, but none of those will have any sort of "real-time" update where if you select power attack it will appropriately lower the to-hit and raise the damage.

I know you mentioned HeroLab already...

I also found parts of HeroLab not to be particularly intuitive and I dislike how cumbersome it is to add homemade/made-up magic items that actually calculate into the arithmetic of the program. Likewise I find the extra book costs to be somewhat prohibitive.

I've limited my purchases to the core module and a few splat books. After some use though, it does easier to use and it really is the best product out there that I'm aware of.

Eh... this probably isn't what you were fishing for. I've debated whether to even post this but I'll go ahead with a TL:DR: HeroLab is good, but bad for the reasons you already cited.

Thanks, THD and Zedth. I don't necessarily MIND cost if the product works; I'm playing a non-standard character (a Soulknife from Ultimate Psionics), which means the content needs to be uploaded to the program. It has been, but the last time I played with it (admittedly in the early part of this year), it was radically incomplete. I also hadn't purchased the Mythic Adventures module, which is necessary for our campaign.

I'm at 8th level, and I'm already overflowing with abilities, feats, powers, etc. When I do periodic checks to make sure my bonuses are where they should be, that my damage totals are what they ought to be, etc., it would be nice to have a program that just does the math for me, and that I'm feeling relatively confident is doing it properly.

To be honest, I'm surprised Paizo at this point hasn't created an official character generator for the game.

Herolab is becoming less and less usable as various features and FAQ's are either unimplemented or implemented incompletely.

Several of my more frequently played characters are reaching the point where it is simpler for my to use my own characters sheets than remembers all the places where the numbers in Herolab are wrong. I have other characters that are simply impossible to build correctly in Herolab (qinggong monk + any other archetype).

False, but whatever. They constantly update it so that it works better and better.

PCGen works for me, and it's free. UPsionics is included. It's not without it's problems though.

Used to use PCGen for years, switched to Hero Lab this summer which is head and shoulders better.

I love that I no longer need to drag a backpack full of books and supplies around.

The cost is my only gripe with Hero Lab. When you factor in $30 for the program and $10 per book, it adds up quickly.

That said, it beats dragging around a bag full of books every week.
