(Ex): At 13th level, as an immediate action, a tower shield specialist can reposition his tower shield to another facing, but he cannot use this ability to interrupt an attack. This ability replaces weapon training 3.
I was curious to how other players and GMs may interpret this ability?
I have a player who took total cover with his shield from a dragon while it was flying toward the party. On the Dragons turn, he did a fly by attack using his breath weapon. The player wanted to reposition at the moment just before the attack to get total cover. ( Cone attack) I mentioned the ability is specific about interrupting an attack. As a compromised I gave him +4 on his saving throw.
What does every one think of this ability and what is it good for if you cannot interrupt an attack? But if you can take total cover as an immediate action that is very powerful.

Imho the interrupt an attack part means that it can only be done before the enemy rolls.
Of course your tower shield specialist can turn around when the dragon moves past him. Otherwise what's the point of the immediate action?
This seems to break the game SIM. The guy is blind to the opponent, then sees the dragon overhead - repositions- the dragon continues because it can attack at any point of its movement. Does the specialist get to reposition again? This is very poorly designed or written ability. Thanks

Obviously not because you can only do one immediate action per round? The ideal moment to reposition the shield is after enemy movement though.
Also I'm sure i can find more broken stuff that the TSS in the CRB.
This ability is great and it gives a reason to actually go so far into TSS. This guy will hardly be dealing much damage, why not let him do what he's meant to do?

This is how you sound OP: "This fighter picked an archetype that sacrifices many things in order to be able to provide positional defense and control to his party, and now he's giving positional defense and control to his party at level 13th!"
you are NEVER gonna defeat a Tower Shield Specialist coming from only one direction. If you wanna challenge him, swarm the party with goblins or something.

When a player brings a new character to the game. And uses a new ability that is gray or poorly written, I usually compromise then get advice before making a final dicision. Thanks for the feedback
