Are the rest of you on the ship as well?

If so, it looks like I'll have a nice amount of movies to watch.

Do Trilogies count as one movie if we so wish?

If they don't...the movies would be...

1. All 6 Star Wars movies
2. All 4 Indiana Jones movies.

And...I'm done.

If movie series count as one...

then

1. Star Wars series
2. Indiana Jones series
3. Star Trek series of movies

5. The Hobbit Trilogy
7. The Dark Knight trilogy
8. Burton's Batman movies

With only 10 movies on a trip of that length I'm probably bringing a gun along too. I'm going to die of old age before I arrive, I'd rather not get there old AND bored to insanity.

A good way to trigger your Persona anyway. :)

1 person marked this as a favorite.

1. First Matrix movie.
2-4. Extended version of Lord of the Rings
5. A massive spliced-together home movie, mostly of events in my son's life.
6. Hero, a Hong Kong movie from 2002. Original language of course - can't stand dubbing.
7. Castle in the Sky by Studio Ghibli. Original language.
8. The Time Machine, 2002
9. A Christmas Carol, the one with Patrick Stewart.
10. maybe Avatar? Some kind of flashy sci-fi movie with lots of CGI, in any case.

That was a lot more difficult than I thought it would be. Of course the reality is I'd smuggle aboard a mini or micro sd card or 10, containing all the ebooks, movies, and gaming pdfs that would fit.

Edit: Just noticed people are doing TV shows too.....so my number 11 would be Doctor Who.

Sovereign Court

1. Fight Club
2. The Big lebowski
3. Raiders of the lost ark
4. The watchmen
5. China town
6. Bladerunner
7. Donnie Darko
8. Caddy Shack
9. Casablanca
10. The good, the bad, and the ugly

Hard to think of just 10 but off the cuff I never tire of these.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I would want my ten to reflect different places I would want to remember;

1- Star Wars: A New Hope
2- Star Trek: Undiscovered Country
3- Serenity
4- Lord of the Rings
5- Jurassic Park
6- Matrix
7- Ghost in the Shell
8- Gundam: Chars Counterattack
9- Avatar
0- Pirates of the Carribean

This would be easier if you could cheat and bring whole series or movie sequels.

Dogma
Matrix
Big Trouble in Little China
Gremlins
Donny Darko
Goonies
The Adventures of Baron Munchausen

Who would trust a 'space' ship that is apparently advanced enough to get to alpha centauri, but some how has an arbitrarily small amount of digital storage space for 10 'movies' which can vary wildling in length, file size and format....

Anyway,

1-3. lord of the rings extended cut
4. Blade Runner - Super Extended Cut
5. Boondock Saints
6. Rounders
7. Robin Hood, Men in Tights
8. Pitch Perfect
9. Kung Fu Hustle
10. Blazing Saddles

But really i'd just sneak a portable hardrive on with me and load digital conversions of my entire movie and tv show collection.

Trying not to check out the earlier replies so I don't get influenced before I post... I'd probably plan get a couple of each genre that I have interest in.

1. The Shawshank Redemption
2. Raiders of the Lost Ark
3. Spaceballs
4. The Last of the Mohicans
5. The Matrix
6. The Iron Monkey
7. Conan the Barbarian (1982)
8. Heat
9. Appleseed
10. Unforgiven

Yeah, I asked my wife what she'd pick, but made the mistake of showing her my choices first. 2 of her 10 definitely were influenced by what I wrote.....

Or fill the same space with digital books, they'll take up far more time than movies. Including at least some RPG for even more hours of entertainment per Meg.

Hmmm. Which movies will spawn the most interesting cults when the generation ship inevitably suffers problems and society regresses? :)

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World
Beverly Hills Cop
Robocop
Stranger Than Fiction
O Brother Where Art Thou?
The Shining

2001: A Space Odyssey would be on the list, except I'm in space on a spaceship, so why would I watch a movie about being on a spaceship? If this were my post apocalyptic bunker movie list, it'd be on there.

Serenity
Cloverfield
Let Me In
Aliens
Signs
Matrix

Can I use the memory space to bring books instead of movies? I could bring a shit load of books for the memory space required for 10 movies.

And another one either misses the whole point or likes being a wiseguy.

Joining in on the missing the point, or possibly being a wise guy:
No one's bring porn? Really? Be honest here.

I also earlier on went looking for lists of the longest movies. There's some weird stuff out there.

pirates 1 and 2 are porn.

A similar list on 4chan had some interesting choices....

In no order

Fist of Legend
Die Hard
The Dark Knight
Ghost in the Shell
Seven Samurai
Star Wars: A New Hope
Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back
Pulp Fiction
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
The Big Lebowski

I might consider Lord of the Rings if it were only 1 movie. I enjoy it, but not enough to take up 3 slots. At 1 slot it would be good enough to replace SW:ANH.

These aren't necessarily my favorite movies, but ones I know I can rewatch again and again.

7. A Shot in the Dark (1964)
8. Airplane! (1980)
9. Red Riding trilogy (2009)
10. Gone In 60 Seconds (1974)

List subject to change depending on my mood at the time.

If I already boarded with my choice I would be agitated when I realized that I forgotten The Princess Bride. Probably hammering at a porthole and asking if you'd consider a swap...
