Teaser trailer released today!
There's a LOT in the trailer, and don't think they've shown the main villain even.

I am mildly intrigued, perhaps cautiously optimistic. I liked the scenes with Punisher, but was kind of hoping they'd move beyond the previous supporting cast and give us some new people (and perhaps ones that are more comic accurate). I'll probably wait a week or two after opening if I see it in a theater, just to see what folk are saying about it.
Edit: Almost forgot, but wasn't crazy about seeing The Hand in there. Or at least what looks like them. Although they did look comic accurate.
Honestly having the Hand in there makes me feel like there's a good reason for Frank Castle being there.
also there's a rumor that Firestar will show up. :)

I wouldn't mind Spidey going more street level after all of the cosmic stuff. Enforcers,Silverman,Hammerhead,Rose ,Chameleon and Tinkerer.

Daredevil is supposed to be in it, so the Hand makes sense from that perspective as well.
Tombstone is also supposed to be in the movie.
Also, there's at least 3 actors in it who haven't had their characters announced yet, including Sadie Sink (speculation for Firestar there, as well as Jean Grey).
And someone is a mind controller based on the trailer.
So we'll definitely get new characters.
The only concern I've got is that there's too many characters, but since 3 or 4 years have passed, I'm assuming we'll get a montage of a bunch of villains Spidey dealt with during that time, leading up to his current status (getting the key to the city, etc). Speaking of which, the lady giving him the key in the trailer is Wilson Fisk's campaign manager/political adviser.

Jean Grey is certainly the most obvious, combined with a big enough role to get Sadie Sink's interest. But Marvel has been known to do some misdirection for casting in the past, so who knows. Fun to speculate. I personally always like when they pull that off and it's some unexpected character, etc.
I heard the rumor that her character is fire based, not mind. But I could be wrong. (Still holding out for Firestar so we can get Ice-man and thus AMAZING friends are back! :D )

Well, it does look like you (and I) will happily get your wish. We say Scorpion in the trailer. And it (so it seems) Tarantula. As well, I was watching a show last night where they were dissecting the trailer and realized I had missed a shot that show Boomerang in the back ground.

I think if they are going to introduce major X-men characters like Jean Grey it will be in a Disney Marvel film, not Sony.
Firestar however dose have a Spider-Man connection from the days of Amazing Friends
Exactly and plus it opens up some smaller X-men via "Hey look! This is Iceman's friend Boom Boom!"
I just want to see Firestar and Iceman join up with Spidey in a movie. :p

So…from what I understand, this movie seems to be a kind of adaptation of the comic book story Spider-Man: The Other - Evolve or Die. I recently bought a collected edition of that story, and it was….okay.
But I can’t help feel a little cheated that we’re getting something like that instead of something like Kraven’s Last Hunt, or Spider Slayers, or any of the older, more classic stuff.
That said, I’m still looking forward to the movie, and am planning to see it in the theater. Though not until at least the second weekend.
Honestly don't know WHY anyone expected Spider Slayers or even Kraven's Last hunt, given how POORLY that movie did. So..yeah. The Other makes some sense.

No...I think the time of Trapster has long passed. As for the Superior Foes...meh.
Also we GOT a Sinister Six. Just not the ones people expected.

We have not gotten Chameleon. To the studio's everlasting shame.
They did do a version of Silvermane in that Spider-Noir series on Amazon. They made him Irish instead of Italian, but Brendan Gleeson did a phenomenal job.

Actually, I hope that if the DC movie Clayface does decent, makes money, and shows a villain based movie can do well, that they make a Chameleon movie (or TV show better yet) where he goes around and impersonates as many other MCU characters as possible, and accomplishes some massive heist/villainous plan. Would be fun for lots of the MCU actors to cameo for quick scenes as the Chameleon playing them.
I'm just waiting for my Thor movie with Mangog. :p

What theater seat or subscription was 1967 trying to work out because it was a tv show (so no movie theater for butts) and there weren't subscriptions?

Saw it earlier this afternoon (12:30pm, AMC Lincoln Center, Dolby Cinema) I really, really liked it. Ranking the MCU SPIDER-MAN movies it's:
1) NO WAY HOME
2) BRAND NEW DAY
3) HOMECOMING
4) FAR FROM HOME
The margin between NO WAY HOME and BRAND NEW DAY is very, VERY thin though.
The margin between BRAND NEW DAY and HOMECOMING is pretty wide, but the margin between HOMECOMING and FAR FROM HOME is as thin as the margin between the first two.
This one felt the closest to comics Spider-Man/Peter Parker in terms of tone. I loved the relationship/chemistry that he has with this MCU Frank Castle (who is definitely more human than the comics iteration) and the incorporation of other MCU characters into Spidey's story while remaining a Spidey story at heart.
I feel like, especially these days, people don't WANT to like things; they just want to complain about why it's not the thing that they had in their head. I have no control over the creation of this stuff. I'm strictly a consumer. And in this case I liked the story that was presented, the way it was presented, and the performances.
Unsurprised. Even if the script wasn't great, it was better than adapting Tom King's original writing for Supergirl.
I hope so! It would be nice to see a Marvel movie do well for a change. (Or at least exceed expectations.)
I'd say VERY VERY good myself...

I liked the movie a lot, even though it was a bit more depressing (which relates to the entire Peter isolation and loneliness plotline and makes sense and worked well.)
What I'm surprised about most is that I haven't seen much discussion on line about Spidey's
I saw it last night, and I liked it quite a bit! I successfully avoided too many spoilers about the movie, so the reveal of who the antagonist is was surprising to me. I was confused why they would choose this character as the antagonist, but their portrayal fit well for the story they wanted to tell. I was confused at first, but it didn't really bother me overall. It also makes sense considering what we know about the future of the MCU.
There were a number of villain cameos I enjoyed seeing, and the scenes with The Hand were very cool.
I like where Peter and Spider-Man are now, in terms of living his life, his reputation, and his relationships. Everyone is always rooting for the protagonist to be happy, but, historically, Spider-Man stories are about how he handles the hardships of losing reputation and those relationships.
I haven't made the time to watch the Punisher series or the later Daredevil series that Punisher is featured in; I've only watched whatever the YouTube algorithm has fed me. That said, I really enjoyed his portrayal in this movie.

Just got back from seeing the movie with my kids. They both enjoyed the movie, same as me. I'd say it's number 2 on my list for Tom Holland Spider-Man movies, just behind No Way Home. The story was kind of a mess (but only slight), making me think some of the plot points were forced in by Disney. The performances were really good, especially Tom Holland (he was great). And the action sequences were top notch.
Yelena - They seem to keep trying to make her as popular as Natasha. I just don't see it. She's a cheap knock-off. She was absolutely pointless in this movie. And her comment about Spider-Man being "small potatoes" was insulting to the most popular superhero on the planet, as well as to fans.
Jean Grey - Damn! They f@#cked her up. She came across more like Magneto than one of the X-Men. She straight up murdered at least one person that we know of. God knows how many others were hurt in the course of her crimes. And then they try to completely switch gears and make her sympathetic, so they can have her walk away without any consequences. It was the weakest point in the movie. They basically WandaVisioned her. "Oh, it's okay if she committed horrible crimes against innocent people, because something bad happened to her". It makes me think for the upcoming Disney X-Men they're going to have the X-Men be more like they are in the modern comics - which is sometimes not much better than the villains.
Anyway, despite the flaws, it was a great movie. I hope it's success keeps up. And I sincerely hope they can get at least two more movies out of Holland. Hopefully, the next can have the main villain be an actual Spider-Man villain.
