Why is True Strike NOT on the Witch spell list?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Looking to make a Witch Cartomancer and was surprised and frustrated that True Strike was not on the Witch's spell list. Why?

Dunno. If it were it would make a huge difference for the White Haired Witch.

Arbitrary decision? Certainly one of those that would be useful on most any spell list.

Just one more to "house rule"!

Wizards kept it for themselves; they are still frustrated about the fact that animate objects is still not on their spell list after 15 years of complaining...

Scarab Sages

Seems like it could be pretty problematic with all the touch spells the witch can take (at often lower levels). Maybe a balance thing.

Anyway, the easiest method is still that slumber hex, as a sleeping/unconscious target is consider willing...

Samsaren with past life trait works to remedy that.

Except that it is also available to: the Inquisitor; the Alchemist; the Bloodrager; the Magus; and anyone with the Luck or Destruction domain...

Yeah, there are ways to get around it, but I hate the seemingly nonsensical nature of its exclusion.

If it were a balance thing, they could have bumped it up a level. Oh well... House rule time!

I would counter: why should it be on the witch spell list?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

that's because Wizards and Magi are under the same syndicated union. Inquisitors blackmailed them so they had to let it go. Wizards had had an eye on the witches for a while, but they never saw the alchemist coming. Lack of clear vision really, they should have had.

Bloodragers, well, who's gonna tell them they can't have true strike? Clerics with Luck domain acquired it as a misplace item in a wizard's garage sale, a stroke of chance you might say.

That leaves Clerics with the Destruction domain. CLearly these guys are OP and should be removed from the book!
