AMULET OF THE BLOODED, Destined

This chunk of uncut quartz hangs on a
platinum chain. The wearer gains a +2 luck bonus on all
saving throws and to AC during surprise rounds

Is the luck bonus always on or only during surprise rounds?

I actually had this same thought when I first read it. I think it means you get the bonuses only during surprise rounds. It's not priced correctly for +2 saves all the time.

Maybe it could have read: "During surprise rounds, the wearer gains a +2 luck bonus to all saving throws and AC."

The Amulet of the Blooded, Destined is 10,000 gp.
Save +2 (luck) is 2*2*2,000 = 8,000 gp.
+2 AC Luck is 10,000 gp perm, but 1/encounter is much less.
1/day re-roll is worth something.

Price seems good for +2 Luck to saves all the time.

The wearer gains a +2 luck bonus on all saving throws and to AC during surprise rounds or any time he is otherwise unaware of an attack.
restated:
The wearer gains a +2 luck bonus on

  • all saving throws
    and to
  • AC during ([surprise rounds] or [any time he is otherwise unaware of an attack.])

Except that much more restrictive 1/day rerolls are priced at 3k or more.

Not to mention, looking at it in the context of the other Amulets, the ones that grant a bonus to saves only grant it vs specific things.

The Exchange

This is the only thread asking questions about this item, and I'm wondering the same thing, so I figured it'd be safe to cast Raise Thread. After 8 months, what are peoples' thoughts on this amulet? Is it:

The wearer gains a +2 luck bonus [on all saving throws and to AC] during surprise rounds or any time he is otherwise unaware of an attack.
...or...
The wearer gains a +2 luck bonus [on all saving throws] and [to AC during surprise rounds or any time he is otherwise unaware of an attack].

The word "attack" at the end of the statement makes me lean towards the second interpretation, but it's also a much more desirable item if that's the case.

Reading the Destined Bloodline, I see it's worded the same way. Has anyone out there ever played a Destined Sorcerer?

I'm pretty sure it's the first

Played a Destined sorcerer for 8 levels or so before retraining. Also pretty sure it's the first.
