Vital Strike / Cleave

Advice

Just wondering if this was ever answered, and if so, im sorry for reposting this question. When you attack an opponent and choose too use the vital strike, can you cleave afterwards, and then the next target be another vital strike, and keep cleaving/vital striking a group of people?

NO. They both are standard actions so you can not use them togheter. Nor vital strike and charge.

isnt a charge an attack action? Then why could you not use vital strike as your one attack on that target?

Vital Strike:When you use the attack action, which a charge is a type of, you make one attack at your highest bab that deals additional damage. No where in there says its a standard action, but cleave does say it is a standard action, which i can assume then you could not use at the end of a charge.

FAQ

never mind, just saw the editors note on d20pfsrd. cannot charge and vital strike, sorry, my bad, but could you still vital strike with a cleave? Since Vital strike is not technically a standard action, more like a boost too a single action.

Is one of those moements where Pathfinder is more fun when you don't know the actual rules.

okay =(
would be neat.....maybe a little op if that actually worked. I just wondered.

Not OP at all, far from it. I fact, I recommend to ask yoru GM to houserule it to work togheter, You don ot lose anything for asking.

In our games we allow vital strike on a charge or spring attack but not on a cleave. There is a feat that let's you make an extra attack whenever you down a foe (Cleaving Finish, I think) and that would work on a Vital Strike.

Since ACG we have some feats designed to work with vital strike. Grasping strike, winter's strike and faery strike. But since those have been designed to work with vital strike and only work in combination with it you could make a point that they don't count.

Lol after reading those feats, combat druids really needed a buff.

Now when they do 400 damage in a hit, they can entangle or fatigue too! great!

Except for greater weapon of the chosen, where the answer is yes.

Vital Strike and GWotC both use the language "When you make a single attack as part of the attack action."

A charge, cleave, spring attack, or deadly stroke is not an attack action, but instead a special action that allows you to make an attack in a specific circumstance.
