Creating a character similar to a 4e Warlock.

Advice

In D&D 4e, Wizards study magic, Sorcerers have magic in their blood, and Warlocks get their power from signing a pact with a powerful entity. The Wizard and Sorcerer are represented in Pathfinder, but is there a class that can function at least story-wise as a warlock? I posted this on Reddit, and people suggested the witch. Any thoughts?

The witch, or if your DM lets you use 3.5 content (Which is fully compatible) theres a warlock whos not to dissimilar mechanically and flavour wise to the 4e warlock

Sovereign Court

Witches and Sorcerers pretty much.

witches have patrons which you could thematically use as a pact

Scarab Sages

Thematically, the Witch, Shaman, or Oracle all work for a pact-based character RP background.

Mechanically, nothing matches the unlimited blasts of the warlock at this time. However, I have a feeling the Occult Adventures playtest will offer some more options.

Lantern Lodge

Personally, I'd amend this to include most any character that spontaneously casts, including for example, the Magus/Eldritch Scion.

Even prepared casters can use the theme saying they gain the knowledge of their spells not from research, but from their patron, or perhaps they still research, but their patron aids their research. There are plenty of dark wizards in literature who derive their power from pacts and other fell sources, yet still use spell books.
