Avenger Finesse (Ex)
At 2nd level, a mysterious avenger gains all of the benefits of the swashbuckler's finesse class feature, and gains the ability to use a whip in place of a light or one-handed piercing melee weapon for all swashbuckler class features and deeds.
This ability alters swashbuckler finesse.
Now it says at 2nd level, but it says it alters Swashbuckler Finesse which is a 1st level ability.
So.. is this a mistake? Or do you have normal Swashbuckler Finesse for level 1 and then it changes in second level? I have never heard of a class feature being altered or changed or whatever after the feature is in effect.

considering that if it was intended for first level, they would've left out the whole "at x level", it is after all common for first level tradeoffs not to mention the level. So in light of that I can only say it is probably intended. And aside from it being odd, I don't see any reason to believe it to be a mistake.

you don't get finseese until 2nd level with mysterious avenger.
since the feature gets altered then you go with the altered text in full. So you don't get it until level 2
to better demonstrate what i mean, you actually have to read it from bottom to top:
at 1st level, your stat block says you get swashbuckler finesse.
your archetype indicates that this feature is altered.
you go to the archetype to read what was altered
and then you see:
at 2nd level you gain etcetcetc
it never says you gain anything in place of it in 1st level.
