Would a Nagaji deny the Naga?

Advice

I have been thinking of an idea for a Nagaji paladin of Apsu who decides that he no longer considers the naga gods and doesn't want to serve them anymore.

My question is would a nagaji, having been created by the naga, actually be capable of such thought or would the naga be able to purge those thoughts since they are the nagaji's creators? And if so, what would be the repercussions of saying or thinking that and then leaving the nagaji society?

Nagaji have the same degree of free will that any other humanoid has. They can decide to reject their upbringing and follow a different path.

Not to mention they acutslly have entered strife with them in history.

They don't see them as gods- they see them as leaders.

And a very important part of the political process is being able to sting your leaders up by their own intestines.

From the ARG:

"It is believed that nagas created the nagaji as a race of servants and that the nagaji worship their creators as living gods." That's what led me to think that way. I know the rulebooks are setting neutral but the races usually have defined society structure.

Didn't mean last post to be mean spirited if it was taken that way.

Scarab Sages

The Dragon Empires primer states that Nagaji do have free will.

Dragon Empires Primer pg.4 wrote:

Although many outsiders think of the nagaj as little more than servants to nagas, they in fact have a remarkable amount of free will, and simply possess a drive to prove themselves as worthy to their naga masters, though just as many seek to prove themselves outside this racial obligation.

Also nagaji don't worship nagas in general as gods, they worship Nalinivati.

Do humans deny their ape overlords?

As for us rats, we kick out the heretics who don't show proper reverence to the mighty capybara - king of the rats.

What of the Great Horned One?

Bah. Maybe in his own mind. No gerbil could ever be a true king.

I believe there is a line in the Dragon Empires Gazetteer about the Nagaji "not being strangers to rebellion and revolution" when the Naga get too big for their britches. Maybe he just ended up giving up on the Naga after a particularly bad incident?

Do you want him to? Then he does. No more complicated than that.
