wall of force(forcecage) interaction with antimagic shell

Rules Questions

I have a few questions about this interaction.

1) Can you cast a wall of force within the area affected by antimagic shell?

2) Assuming yes to question , if you put a wall of force within the field , does the effect of the antimagic field extend beyond the wall (on the other side)?

3)Does forcecage has the same interactions with antimagic field (it's basically a force spell that creates walls of force)

4)Could you create a windowless forcecage around someone who has antimagic shell active in order to contain the effect of the antimagic shell?

thanks

.

Interesting. My provisional view is no as AMF would prevent the casting of the spell. The wall, once in existence, cannot be affected by AMF, but there is a difference between the casting of the spell and the spell effect.

If I am wrong and 1) Yes then:
2) no, as AMF is an emanation WoF will block it.
3) Yes, it uses very much the same language and limitations.
4) yes.

No. If you had cast it beforehand, or cast it around the field, it would remain intact in an AMF as a wall of force would, but AMF prohibits any and all spellcasting while the caster is in it.

interesting....I had the same initial opinion as you two suggested. However, something in the spell made me wonder:

antimagic field:(from CRB)
An invisible barrier surrounds you and moves with you. The space within this barrier is impervious to most magical effects, including spells, spell-like abilities, and supernatural abilities. Likewise, it prevents the functioning of any magic items or spells within its confines.

An antimagic field suppresses any spell or magical effect used within, brought into, or cast into the area, but does not dispel it. Time spent within an antimagic field counts against the suppressed spell's duration.

what do you think about the bold parts if the caster is outside the area affected by the antimagic shell (so capable of casting the spell into the area)?
It would appear that if antimagic field suppress any spell ...cast into the area...than it implies that you could cast such a spell within the area of the antimagic field....

Thoughts?

Possibly, but The Giant is on record as saying he bends or outright breaks rules for the sake of drama. That says a whole lot about how mood-killing God Wizards can be, and not a whole lot about how these two spells interact.

Ya...I agree with Dominus on this....even though the cartoon shows a interesting interaction and good drama, the spell description explicitely says that it would not work like in the cartoon:

From CRB:

"... Certain spells, such as wall of force, prismatic sphere, and prismatic wall, remain unaffected by antimagic field...."

SO if the wall of force (or forcecage) was cast before, it would be unaffected.

But, I'm still wondering if we can cast a forcecage around someone who has an active antimagic field...the description (as shown previously) seems to indicate yes, but not sure...
