Banish a driud when in elemental form

Rules Questions

Is it possible to cast banishment/dismissal on a druid when he is wild-shaped into an elemental?

No, he is not an elemental.

Presuming the druid is on the Material Plane / a native outsider, he is not treated as (extraplanar) by dismissal, banishment and similar magic.

If the character is on another plane, however ... absolutely, along with the rest of the party and any animal companion, familiar, etc.

No. Wildshape does not change his subtype to outsider nor does it cause him to gain the extraplanar subtype. He is simply a *insert whatever race* druid with a really good magical elemental costume.

Banishment only cares ifa creature has the extraplanar subtype, which any creature not on their native plane has. The bestiary is written assuming creatures are on the material plane. If you go to a non-native plane (such as humans on plane other than material) you gain the extraplanar subtype and would be subject to banishment.

I always hate when people give this reason, but it is infinitely applicable here. No, this is no World of Warcraft.
