I'll be playing a Magus soon and had a couple of questions. Are there any prestige classes for them?
Also, I plan on doing the Kensai Magus I'm pretty sure I will be doing the Scimitar route BUT is it the Aloran dueling sword worth looking into?
This is the first time I will be playing a Magus. I usually do Wizards so I hope it wont be too different.
Any advice for a first time Magus would be nice as well.
Thanks

Dump Strengh and Cha, buff Dex and Int, wield a scimitar, use dervish dance or slashing grace as feats, be sure to have mirror image and blur, core spells along with frostbite and shocking grasp.

If you are going Kensai, then take Aldori Dueling Sword and grab slashing grace from acg. also aracne strike and rivinig strike (also acg). elf or half elf also nets you a favored class bonus to arcane pool. no prc for magus really. also acg has some arcana that let you grab swashbuckler abilities and fuel them with arcane pool points. one of those abilities gives you evasion and uncanny dodge.

ADS is worse than the Scimitar at first glance. The DPR in the Scimitar is higher because of the better crit rate.
Now, Aldori Dueling Mastery is interesting, since it's a good bonus to AC and initiative, but it's debatable whether the Magus has enough feats to make it work.
If you are the team's frontline, then perhaps ADS could be good enough as Quick Draw is seldom a wasted feat, especially for beating DR or defending against disarm effects.

Generally speaking, the magus tends to benefit more by staying single-classed (to advance their Arcane Pool and gain additional/more powerful arcana).
However, there are a few specific cases where it can be an effective option. Three that I can think of (not all-inclusive):
1) Five or six levels of eldritch knight can give you a slightly higher BAB, two bonus combat feats, and the ability to qualify as either a fighter or wizard 5/6 for meeting feat prerequisites (including Disruptive, Weapon Specialization, and arcane discoveries).
2) A myrmidarch magus may find three levels of arcane archer complements their abilities nicely and increases their combat utility.
3) A magus 7/cleric (negative energy) 3/mystic theurge has a lot of touch spells available (through Broad Study and spontaneous inflict spells) to use with Spellstrike. Plus, cleric has some good combat buffs (and healing if needed) that help mitigate the slightly lower BAB.

I did forget to mention Dueling Mastery. A kensai should plan on taking the weapon focus and specialization feats, so all you are left are quick draw and dueling mastery. Elf gets +2 dex & +2 int which is why suggested that race but if there is a concern for feats then human will work.
