Questions about PDF versions of books

Pathfinder Society

Don't know if this is where this question belongs, but here goes.

1) Are the PDF versions of the books legal references for society play?
2) Can the PDF be purchased alone?

Thanks for your answers.

Simple yes to both.

Thank you.

Yes and yes.

It should be noted that you don't have to print the entire book or have an electronic device to show the PDF in order to bring what you need to a game day. I frequently print out one or two pages from my PDFs that apply to specific characters, and just bring those pages to game days, in case I forget my tablet or run out of battery charge. The watermark on each page proves that the printout is from a PDF that you purchased legally.

Yes to all three questions.

It was in the right place
PDFs are legal references for PFS
and they can be purchased alone.

I've got in the habit of printing the copyright page of each PDF I own and keeping it in my gaming bag. It's an easy way to be sure I have proof-of-ownership for all of them.

You're actually supposed to either bring the PDF with you, or print off the pages containing the rules you use.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

The rule is partially in place so the dm can see "You're doing WHAT?!?" when you break out an obscure rule or combo that they don't know about, so you need to show them the ability text.
