Just wanted to give a quick shoutout to the campaign management. I really like way that the replay boon was implemented. It's a nice incentive to keep GMming, and it allows for the flexibility of replays without giving them out willy-nilly. Excellent work.

For those of you who don't know, the replay boons allow GMs to list the names and dates of scenarios ran. 5 scenarios = 1 recharged star. Considering that you also cannot replay a scenario more than once, I think that this is extremely fair.

I hope to get my hands on one myself in a few weeks. :) Are they listed as GenCon boons or Season 6 boons?

Nice! That's not bad at all. Now, to figure out how to get hold of one.

Was it a boon given to GMs (instead of or in addition to the race boon), or was it one of the general Con boons available to players?

Please point me to this demon sorcery for I wish to utilize it.

So one boon gives you a one-star recharge for running 5 different scenarios? Confused here.

Sovereign Court 4/5 5/5 ** RPG Superstar 2014 Top 32

We had to win it using chips. It said GenCon, but I generally see lots of the GenCon boons reprinted.

I'm pretty sure there are more than five spaces on the boon.

Sovereign Court 5/5

shaft to the paizocon gms that couldnt afford 2 cons back to back.

If they are only going to be offered at this GenCon, I may agree with you.

Perhaps it was designed to premier at Gen Con and might be made available throughout the year? I don't know if that's true or not, however. But, I also don't think it's a "shaft to the paizocon gms" and I don't think, really, that's either a fair or appropriate statement.

I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be a general con boon, according to the Know Direction podcast a while back. Of course, I might be misremembering or they might have changed things, but I think it's a bit premature to say that it's a shaft to the Paizocon GMs that couldn't also make GenCon.

Silver Crusade 2/5

Good to tie to ongoing GMing. And 1 recharge / 5 GM'd is a nice ratio.

Question: One boon can net any number of replays, or some limited amount t (e.g. max 10 per boon)?

And I will repeat concerns I've expressed elsewhere that this feels like something that ought to be more widely available than convention GMing.

Sovereign Court 4/5 5/5 ** RPG Superstar 2014 Top 32

I am reasonably certain it won't be tied to GenCon alone.

It recharges whatever your stars are once.

Sovereign Court 4/5

I'd like to point out that even Game Days get GM boon support, and these are much easier to set up and attend than full-fledged conventions. Yes, there still needs to be a table minimum, but game days seem to be overlooked when people say "What d'ya mean I need to go to a con to get a boon?!". Heck, there have been two PbP Game "Days" and three VTT Game Days with a fourth almost upon us. Everyone has a chance to participate and a potential to win a boon.

The GenCon boons are usually the convention boons for the rest of the year, so I would find it very likely that it will be distributed to local cons.

If, as Netopalis says, it's a boon you can win using chips, then that sounds a lot more like a player boon than a GM boon (or, at least, that's the way things were at Paizocon).

Scarab Sages 5/5 5/5 **** Venture-Captain, Washington—Spokane

I am really hoping that becomes more available than just GenCon. I agree that 1 star refresh per 5 games GMd is more than fair.

@Sarvei, I am pretty sure it was not a means to penalize those who were not able to attend both Paizocon and GenCon. Since GenCon kicked off Season Six, it is a better place to check out reaction to something that was probably finalized closer to GenCon. If we need to run more multitable or multivenue events, then we will set those up and submit requests for support. We still don't know what is coming for Summerfest either so I really think it would be a bit too soon before thinking the refresh boon is a shaft.

Essentially this. Gen Con is when we debut the boons for the season.

Grand Lodge 4/5

Would it be possible for someone to post the exact text of the boon? I'm curious as to exactly how it works.

Thanks John. I thought, as others did, that was the case but this confirmation is helpful.

I think these would be of better use if the were just tagged along with the normal GM boon a GM gets when he GMs at a con. As a player boon a GM is unlikely to get it.

Per normal Boon percentage at a con only about 10% of all players a slot are supposed to get a boon, that makes this boon highly unlikely to get. And that is assuming every con gets it and it does not rotate out like the other boons for the season.

If you GM at a convention you should automatically get this boon, just add it to the racial boon.

I agree with this.

Additionally, handing them out only to GMs will mitigate negative feedback from players who never GM and get this boon in a roll-off (what is usually done to hand out boons at conventions).

Edit: Though, I guess it would make pretty good trade bait. A lot of GMs would trade their extra race boons for this little gem, which might be a good way to get those races out into the player base.

Is there going to be a race boon this season for GM's? I'm scheduled to GM 2 Cons right now.

Thanks for the info, John!

Looking forward to seeing how this works out.

I don't have the exact text of the boon, but here's the way it works:

It doesn't get applied to a character - just to a player. Every time you GM a game, you write the scenario and date on the boon. The first star recharges after 2 games, 2nd at 5, 3rd at 9, 4th at 14 and 5th at 19.

From what I understand, this years race boons for GMs are the same as last year.

I believe there's also a clause that you can only apply one per season.

It is excellent trade bait though. I traded a player a fresh Prosperity for his fresh replay boon.

Looks like I can't agree with you after all, sarvei. I certainly don't feel slapped in the face.

Already recharged 2 replays :)

Grand Lodge 4/5

I still have three to use before I need the boon.
