what is the current state of Irrisen?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Just what the subject says. After Reign of Winter, what is the current state of Irrisen? I would like something "official" if possible, not what happened at Billy-Bob's game after he and Cleetus ran it, but what if anything Paizo says is currently happening there. Thanks! :)

Adventure Paths don't advance the timeline, so what's "currently" happening in Irrisen is what was happening in Irrisen before Reign of Winter.

EDIT: Discounting things like Jade Regent or Shattered Star that specifically call out the previous books for story purposes. =)

What Shicil said. The only thing really going on not touched on in material such as the ISWG & the Irrisen Sourcebook is that folk are likely getting very nervous about the, now long delayed, arrival of 'Little Grandmother' & her Riders...

Correct. The current state of Irrisen is the way it's presented in Inner Sea World Guide. Until you run Reign of Winter or do some other significant campaign in the area of your own design, that won't change... and when it DOES change, it changes in ways that depend on how your game played out.

Beyond what we've said about these possibilities int he last Reign of Winter in the Continuing the Campaing article there, we don't really have much more to offer in the "official" category.

Thanks guys, it's appreciated! I was wanting to make a "new" character from there and incorporate changes in his backstory, but if it's static I can just go with what I already know.

I'm going nuts waiting for my Inner Sea Campaign setting order to arrive at my local shop... The small bits I've read about Irrisen was one of the things that got me to place the order. That region sound crazy in the best possible ways.

Baba Yaga has a set timeframe for when she appears (the "every 100 years" deal). So if the situation doesn't change until RoW happens, what if RoW doesn't happen for a group until it's several in-game years past Baba Yaga's expiration date, so to speak? It also influences the dating match with Earth in Part 5, given Rasputin, Anastasia, and so on.

The other APs can all more or less be run "whenever" in the timeline (with maybe the exception of the RotRL --> CoCT --> S* sequence), but RoW seems to explicitly depend on a specific timeframe.

True. RoW pretty much must occur in 4713. But because it's the only such AP the others can occur before or after it as you wish. For example there's no reason Mummy's Mask or Wrath of the Righteous can't occur in 4711 (or whatever). Which makes the fact that RoW's timeline is set pretty much irrelevant.

Alternatively, adjusting your campaign's canon so that she arrives in years ending in -14 or -15 (or -27 if you had a long run of Kingmaker, or whatever makes sense for you), would seem to not disrupt all that much.
