On Line PBP games

Website Feedback

Hello, I just registered on this site.
I was wondering if there is place to play PBP on this site?

Silver Crusade

Welcome aboard! go to online campaigns it is right under paizo community

Thank you Tin Foil, but I can't seem to locate it.

Webstore Gninja Minion

Gamer Connection forum link.

Here's the link to the Community group of sub-forums. When you're on the main Messageboards page it's very close to the bottom, so it's easy to miss. The subforum you're probably most interested in is Recruitment, which is where the ads and applications for PbP games are posted.

EDIT: Gah! Ninja'd by a Gninja! How fitting. Btw, I've always wondered, what does the 'G' stand for?

Liberty's Edge

The G is silent... just like a ninja...

Webstore Gninja Minion

The "G" stands for grrrrrrrreat!

Or gnome, goblin, or golem.

Shadow Lodge

Yup and I'm actually looking for players. If you wanna try some pathfinder with a different slant hit me up.

OK so I am ready to make a character. where are the character sheets. I went to the one on this site but it only had space for the abilities.

You have to use the text box to enter the specifics on your character, like this. Alternatively, some people host their character sheets on other sites, such as Myth Weavers.

If you're new to Play-by-Posts on the Paizo site, you should definitely check out this guide to the common conventions.

Thank you, Joana :)

Hello, a few more questions.

I have been filling out my character sheet in "My Account" using the formatting codes. How do you actually see how the text will look to others? Also how are you able to link your character sheet to a game?

I also would like to possibly GM a game. On this site can you upload maps and things to the post? Is it possible to actually look through an active game so I can get tips on how to do it? On other sites you can get the actual code of how a post was made. Is that possible on this site?

Is there a page to learn all the formatting codes?

Thank you in advance.

You can use the "Preview" button at the bottom of the page, or simply "Save Changes" to look at your progress so far and go back in to "Edit My Profile" to finish up. A word to the wise: If you're doing a lot of typing, copy your text before Saving or Previewing! Sometimes the page will time out if you're editing for a while, and you'll lose your changes.

You mean to have it show up in the Characters tab? The first time you post in a gameplay thread in the Play-by-Post forum, select your character name from the drop-down list in the "Post As" box before submitting, and your character will automatically be listed as an active character in the game.

No, Paizo doesn't support images in posts. What most people do is host maps at another site like Photobucket or ImageShack or a Google site and post a link in the gameplay thread for people to click on to see the map.

Yes! Just look at any of the threads in the Play-by-Post forum to see how different groups manage their games.

Mmmm... you can click "Reply" to a post and see the various tags used for formatting the quoted text. Just be sure not to cancel and not submit!

All the formatting codes available can be seem by clicking "Show" next to "How to format your text" under the text box at the end to any thread. There aren't a whole lot of them: quote, bold, italics, strikethrough, links, bigger, smaller, ooc, spoilers, and dice.

Looking at your work so far on Goldenese CrockTail, you want to use b and /b not bold and /bold in your tags, and you're missing the / in front of your ending bigger tag in a couple of places.

Click on your name "Goldenese" in one of your posts. That takes you to a listing of your posts. The tabs across the top, the left most one is "profile", click on that and you can edit that.

If you create an alias for a PbP, normally when accepted, you can do the same thing.

There is a "preview" button for your profile while in edit mode and you can see what it looks like. As far as linking, yes, just copy the https://.....etc... and post it using the [url= format.

No, you can not upload maps, etc. I use the free DropBox storage. Some folks use Google docs for maps, etc.

At the bottom, under the text entry there is a "How to format your text" [show] button. Click on that for the formatting commands.

If you want to look at an active game, HERE is my Moru County game. In my tag line are links to my Tactical maps that you can also look at. Also, you can click on different folks "names" to see there alias' profile.

Edit: gninja'd by Joana. Took me six minutes to type all that out.. heh

I think I am finally getting it.

Thank you all for your help.

Only thing to add is that rather than rely on remembering to Control-A and Control-C before each post, I'd recommend downloading Lazarus Form Recovery for your browser of choice. Amazing piece of software on a website as prone to time-out's, ghost posts and uptime problems as this one.
