Need help with role play

Advice

I am playing in a homebrew campaign as 3 lvl Inquistor of Iomedea. I am tring to figure out how to play as the character. In the campaign party was selected to find out about affection known as Soul Sickness that cause infected to lose their memories and well party members are affected once the arrived. We have figure out how regain our abilities.

Mostly play as though you were a paladin. If that is not what you want to do all the time then it would not be too much of a stretch to seek justice and honor in ways that enter "grey" morality (but never crossing into evil). You need not get Into a duel in front of everyone to settle an issue but could say sneak, steal, or use skills to gain justice for others. If in doubt on how to react to a situation ask how a paladin or very kind hearted chivalrous knight would act as a rule of thumb.

Specific Case: What's in your character's "soul," and what's stuff they've "picked up" or "hidden inside" through life? The former can make itself more and more clearly known through the general static of amnesia, and they can remember/encounter evidence of the latter later on...at which point they have a fresh opportunity to decide whether or not they really like it. An Inquisitor of a Lawful Good deity is an interesting case - maybe they'll wind up flipping into Heretic territory somewhere along the way, either back to "redemption," or into a new allegiance!

General Advice I'd Offer Almost Anyone: If you find you wish you were better at roleplaying, try your hand at some actual acting (you know, spend a season involved with a local community theater or whatever's available to you). If you're going to play, play!

The goddess Iomedae is the Goddess of valor, Rulership Justice and honor.
Her domains are glory good law sun and war Which domain did your Inqusiter choose? Further why did you become an inquister in the first place what
in the world do you object to and want to stamp out? DO you have any flaws low stats in one area? did you convert or were you always a inqusiter of Iomedae? What does your charter fear? What race are they. What faction
Your reason for being an inquisitor can help with the role play as can the other questions.

He became an Inquistor of Iomedea as he was raised in Lastwall felt calling not to be cleric or a Paladin. He felt being one that hides in the shadows to protect those who cant defend themselves.

Well my character doesn't even remember who his Deity is do to the soul sickness. He has been told that he is an Inquistor but not of the Deity he has pledge his life to follow.

You have a choice. Is your character someone who originally was drawn to Iomedea because his personal beliefs/morality/nature matched with that of the God, or was Iomedea the default/expected/raised in church, and the teachings of the church helped him control impulses that would be against their calling.

If it is the former, you will probably act the same, whether you know the particulars about Iomedea or not, since your nature and what Iomedea expects are the congruent. Their might be particular areas of doctrine that you wouldn't follow, but the basic morality of your character wouldn't be effected.

If on the other hand the teachings of Iomedea restrained your characters natural inclinations, without those teachings you will behave quite differently. Perhaps naturally you are a back-stabbing sneaky git, but Iomedea's teachings helped curb those impulses, reserving them for only times when the end truly justified the means. Obviously in such a care your character would act pretty dishonorably, and would face difficulties in regaining his full power, but it could make for a very interesting story and character development.

He was drawn to Iomedea as she was Goddess that he seen to protect his home of Last Wall though he is starting to remember but there is blocking him from relizing his abilities as land the campaign is in is slowly turning into Purgatory.

Connor seems to have a military background due to his traits; start there. He might not remember his life or training, but certain things are ingrained. Say things like "squared away," "Sound off" or "What is your MAJOR MALFUNCTION?" when speaking to folks. Call new party members recruits and refer to your party as your squad or unit.

From there you can develop little eccentricities too. Make a point to mention how neat and dry he keeps his boots since a soldier spends most his time on his feet. Obsess about his armor; not in a disruptive way but just consider it consciously from time to time. Ask the GM if you can use Profession: Soldier to size up sentient, organized foes based on how they carry themselves, wear their armor and keep precision to see if you can guess subtle things like if their alignment includes law or chaos, or if they are better, worse or on par with your own skill level.

As for your goddess, it seems odd that you receive spells from her but can't remember her name. Perhaps though work that into your conversation. Refer to her simply as "high commander" or "Sir" (even though Iomedae is a goddess).

Finally your chosen profession: inquisitor. You aren't a grunt anymore so you move with a purpose. You have endurance and toughness, plus the power of stern gaze and a higher intimidate than stealth. I'm guessing he's not really the "hide in the shadows" type you describe. Play that up too. Get to know the Rock's "People's Eybrow" look and perfect it for your roleplaying. Learn how to keep a straight face like Judge Dredd and use it when dealing with NPCs. Sneer - not out of disgust but rather out of habit.

Just a few, subtle traits can go a long way to informing your play. Happy gaming!

Your abilities, the background "raised in Lastwall," the military traits, the ranks in Profession (soldier), and the LN alignment strongly suggest a military veteran to me. I imagine somebody who is not a leader of men, but who nevertheless does his best to support and inspire the men and women around him.

With an alignment of Lawful Neutral, rather than Lawful Good, I imagine somebody who takes comfort in the structure of military life and in the ordered regimentation of a disciplined unit in battle. When not on duty with his military unit (most likely infantry foot soldiers), Connor likely spent his time studying the enemies of Iomedae. But his learning wasn't mere book learning. Drilled by a merciless loremaster, Connor absorbed this information by rote memorization. The loremaster, and tough old man whose scars told of a thousand battles fought outside Lastwall's libraries, would slap Connor across the back with a staff if he could not immediately recite the weakest points in an imp's anatomy or the five ways to quickly kill a hellhound.

As far as RPing him, Connor would likely look to the party face for leadership, and offer advice in quick, clipped tones if he is asked for his counsel. Connor's weapons and armor, even if they show signs of use, should constantly be kept in top condition. His backpack is well-organized. Each potion bottle or flask has a neatly hand-printed label that states what potion is inside it. Connor probably has a set routine when setting up a camp in the wilderness. Dig a latrine here, set up chairs here, here, and here, and the firepit must be at least 10 feet deep. Given his soul sickness-induced amnesia, Connor has no idea why he does this, but such things are so ingrained in him that they are now routine.

In combat, Connor supports his allies as best he can, giving them courage through his divine abilities, but Connor also realizes that if others show cowardice, then it is up to him -- alone if need be -- to show courage through example. As a professional killer, Connor is quick and decisive with his sword in combat, wasting no energy slaying a foe who is already dead or on showing mercy. Where a paladin or knight might call a war the "flower of chivalry," to Connor it is simply the place where men live or die. If men stay together and work together, they live. If they allow their discipline to disintegrate, they die.
