Skull and Shackles Mats

Pathfinder Adventure Card Game General Discussion

Ultra Pro has the Skull and Shackles mats listed as a product on their site now.

Base Set
Character Add-on

Not a lot to see, but any little bit is fun. I'd assume seeing them on the Ultra Pro website indicates they will be up for sale soon.

Silver Crusade RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16

I don't like those nearly as much as the ones from the first base set... each of the ones from RotRL had multiple pieces of art on them, showing both the character portrait and them in some sort of combat situation as well. These just have the portrait. Probably not going to worry about picking these up, personally.

Hmm, so the Valeros, Mesiriel and Lem artwork is *exactly* the same as RotRL? That's a bit lame isn't it? (Just going on what I can see from the sneak peek). Magus and Oracle look incredibly cool though!

Sovereign Court

That's their artwork for everything. Basically anytime an iconic is used, it's always the one image of them.

I agree that this artwork isn't as good as RotRL, but still cool. Plus, I didn't know who the characters would be besides Valeros. Now I can research them and speculate how they work!

Paizo Employee Chief Technical Officer

The S&S mats should be out in August.

I bought these sight unseen and was quite disappointed at the same-y look and the lack of original artwork.

I hope Ultra-Pro & Paizo work out something better for the next big set.

The Exchange

The big playmant worked out pretty well for us last night, but there was no place on the mat to place the character tokens at the locations.

Small detail, probably not important, otherwise great product.

Anyone know if the battle mat style ultro pro products can be quarter folded and stored in the box without breaking them down? I guess Magic players keep them rolled up, but it would travel so nicely in the game box if that won't damage it.

Yeah the battle mat was nice enough.

But to use that you probably want to use minis ;)

It would be nice if the mats actually showed the details of the characters' abilities, skills, and powers.

Is it just me or is the Seltyiel one using the wrong art ? That's the original Seltyiel WAR portrait on the playmat, not the new one that was done for the Magus and is used on the cards.

A buddy of mine did this and added the character play mats into the big box for storage.

The result: Bad idea. He wound up with a lot of bent cards.

Personally, I'd be a bit wary of doing this as the plastic tray in S&S is A LOT thinner than the one in RotR. I understand trying to manage production costs, but the organizational tray feels ridiculously flimsy. The S&S adventure decks have a hanger tab that is significantly longer than the ones for RotR, meaning that if you don't trim them or tape them down, it's going to put even more pressure on the plastic tray.

I bet we see a lot of future complaints about the tray cracking.

TL;DR Battle mat in the box is a bad idea.

Sovereign Court

Yea the extra length on the adventure boxes drives me nuts. The second printing of Runelords did have the same issue, I'm glad I had the first.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but in my experience so far the Chinese manufacturer was far superior to the new one in the US

Sovereign Court

My adventure, addon-deck and class deck boxes had that hanger tab and they all seemed to easily fold back as if they were stored that way for a while.

The Exchange

Not so concerned with the insert or empty cardboard boxes as I have the broken token insert and the cards are protected, more concerned for the integrity of the mat its self.
