Hello all. I've seen a number of ideas for Final Fantasy themed games on here, and am currently in the process of working on my own. My eventual goal is to have the overarching material, and then material for each world. To start with, since I'm in the middle of a playthrough of FF6, I was thinking about how to simulate the magicite system, and something hit me and I wanted people's opinions:
In Final Fantasy 6, the knowledge of magic is passed down from an esper to a human through the magacite. Wouldn't this be fairly well established by having using the Witch class? The Esper would be the patron, granting magic through shards of its essence? I'll have to look to see if there's a Witch subclass that switches out Familiars for more of an Arcane Bond, or making one myself, but does anyone see any problems with this?
And as I said, this is the beginning of my work on a FF world, so I'll post more as they come along. Currently working on stating some weapons.

Unfortunately it's been too long since I've played FFVI to be much help.
I actually have the disk about 3 feet from me right now (for PSOne), but haven't played it in so long that I'm worthless to suggest anything (plus I just started FFXIII...very pretty...but not quite like the older ones thus far...hope it gets better as I went out on a limb and got XIII, XIII part II, and XIII LR).

GWL: XIII is soooo pretty. The visuals are absolutely top-notch. The problem with it is that it remains a corridor until most of the story is done, and THEN you get to choose what to do next. Some 30 hours in.
XIII-2 is a MUCH better game, certainly not without flaws, but they really did listen to the criticism about XIII. The two are sort of mirrors of one another. I had a blast with XIII-2.
Recently started XIII-3 some time ago myself, can't say much about it.

Since everyone could be a caster (somewhat) in VI and you could swap out magicite learning different spells, I'm not sure. If you're just going for a general feel on one class, then yes, reflavoring can work. So could a sorcerer's bloodline spells... somewhat.
Also... Chocobos.
Edit: Also... Have you seen this?

@Te'Shen: Yes I have, not too impressed really. I'm looking to convert Final Fantasy to Pathfinder, not Pathfinder to Final Fantasy. What I'm looking for is to see what can be done through existing mechanics, only adding new things when I have to. For example, when I created Cloud Strife as a PFS character, I gave him the Limit Break Braver by giving him Power Attack and Furious Focus, instead of making a new feat to represent Braver.
@Deiros: FFT, as one of my favorite games, is definitely coming soon for my work. They're actually pretty easy, from what I've looked over so far. Dycedarg, as Rune Knight, would be either a Magus or, my preference, Eldritch Knight. He's about level 11, so Fighter 1/Wizard5/EK 5 should approximate him. I'm doing the Truth and Untruth skills as new spells, that will likely be a tiny bit more effective than the game skills are.

I thought it was easy too, but now I have over 10 prestige classes lol, series of feats and over 300 pages worth of work.
That includes a small bestiary of FFT + others from other FF.
Like chocobos are Yellow, Black, Blue, Brown, Gold, Red, Silver, Teal (Dark Blue ocean one), White.
Trust me it's not as easy as it sounds lol.
