Trading a 1st Printing Skinsaw Murders for a Second Printing

Hey All -

So I recently got into the game by purchasing the new Rise of the Runelords base set (that is, the second printing). I've therefore tried to get the second printing of everything, but unfortunately when I special ordered it from my FLGS, the distributor gave them a first printing of Skinsaw Murders - and the card back colors are STARKLY different, so it's not really usuable without sleeving, and I really, really don't want to sleeve my game and have to get a custom box, etc.

I figured it's a long shot, but if anyone is in the opposite position (1st printing base set, 2nd printing Skinsaw Murders) I'd be happy to swap!

I have this problem too.

We can't play this, since the backs of the cards on Skinsaw Murders are so dark that I know exactly where the villains and new items\monsters are.

Has anybody addressed this?

Paizo has talked about erratta, but I think their solution for this is "don't buy mixed printings, and use card sleeves if you do." There isn't really anything to be done.

The frustrating part is that sellers aren't really aware of this so there's no good way to ensure what printing you get.

My base set is printed in America, and my Skinsaw is printed in China.
Am I correct in thinking that my base set is 2nd print and the Skinsaw is 1st?

You are correct. Printed in USA = 2nd printing. Printed in China = 1st Printing.

You can also tell by the way the box opens. Top opening is China/1st, side is USA/2nd

Well, I appear to have half 2nd and half 1st printing expansions, so I guess as the box fills with other misprinted cards from the 2nd printing it won't be quite such a glaring issue. Still, what a bummer!

I'm in the exact opposite position as you: 1st Ed. Base Set (from China) and 2nd Ed. Skinsaw Murders. I've played with the cards a few times, but they're still almost new -- no wear, no severe creases or anything.

I'd be up for a trade. Perhaps we should continue this via PM or something? Hit me up if you're still interested.

I use sleeves. I know that it is a costly investment for some people, but for me, I have been playing card games since I can remember, and sleeves for them has just been a known quantity. I like the feel much better, and the protection factor is there as well.

Erixian - I certainly don't begrudge anyone sleeving! But I love the way this sits in the box as is, and sleeves would screw that up, sadly.
