Creating a Ranger / Cleric.

Advice

I am currently playing with a Ranger, and have been thinking about multiclassing at higher levels, I'm just wondering if anyone out there has opinions/build ideas for Ranger/Cleric.

I was thinking it would be really cool to take my Neutral Ranger, and give him levels in Cleric, taking Pharasma as my deity, (healing/death).

I won't go into a lot of detail but it would really fit with my character choices. I'm really liking the look of it from a RP perspective, but would it be totally foolish to try and make this work within gameplay/combat?

Our party consists of a Barbarian, a Magus, a Bard, and My Ranger.

I just thought I would toss this out there and see what everyone thinks, I look forward to hearing your opinions, thanks for taking the time to read this.

What are you stats?

Str-16

What is your race?

I use to love that multi class combo in 3.0 but pathfinder makes it tough to overlook the advantages of staying all 20 levels with one class. I do not think with the stats you have it is worth what you will lose. Mostly your average charisma and barely decent wisdom

What level are you now? Also, Inquisitor may give you more than Cleric. It has a lot better synergy with Ranger than Cleric.

I'm a human. We have just reached Lvl 2.

the inquisitor is almost a ranger/cleric on its own... you might just want to ask if you could switch to that? otherwise, i agree with imbicatus- inquisitor synergizes really nicely with ranger and multiclassing that way might be a better option (mechanically) to get the flavor/rp you want.

Ranger 2 is a good time to multiclass. You have your combat style feat allowing you to pick a feat without prerequisites. Two levels aren't too much of hit to Cleric or Inquisitor, and you can take extra traits later to pick up Magical Knack to boost your caster level.

Ok groovy, thanks guys. I will have a more solid look into Inquisitor as I admit, I have basically no knowledge whatsoever in that regard.

Again, I appreciate the advice.

Extra traits? Sorry I'm not sure I've chosen one of those at all.

My vote is for the Inquisitor as well.

Traits are background abilities that give bonuses that are worth approximately half a feat. They were introduced in the APG, but not all groups play with them.

If you want many levels, or even the rest your levels, to be Inquisitor that could work well. If you want to go back and keep at Ranger levels, one level dip in Cleric gives you 2 domain powers.
