Ash Williams

Advice

Hello, I was wondering if someone can help me with a character concept. I'll be joining a Carrion Crown campaign soon, and I want to play a character based on Ash Williams from Evil Dead. Giving my character his signature shotgun (blunderbuss) is easy, but the chainsaw hand makes it a bit more difficult. I'm fine with reflavoring the chainsaw to be a combat prosthetic of some kind, but the issue I'm running into is using a two-handed firearm with "one" hand. Does anyone know a work around I might be able to try. It's a level 1 character so it can't be too expensive. Also, my DM typically doesn't allow 3rd party material, but he'll make an exception for this if there's a viable solution.

Maybe ask the GM to allow a tweaking like a shortened blunderbuss (aka the sawed off shotgun).

But the chainsaw is a bit difficult to process. Plus, reloading a firearm would require two hands and with a prosthetic that'll be an issue.

+2 chainsword: a 1handed weapon which deals +1d6 force from rotating teeth around the blade.

Remember to take high ranks in Knowledge: Religion, Diplomacy, Bluff, Acrobatics and Alchemy. This is to represent all the knowledge gained on the deadites, your ability to spout one-liners and have an entire castle do what you say, fake out said castle-dwellers at how you said some words right, dodge and deke around hordes of undead, and finally take a chemistry text out of your trunk and make gunpowder and prosthetics.

Oh, and start coming up with movie lines now.

Reflavor the Ripsaw Glaive as a one-hand medium weapon without reach. Use the same stats otherwise.

You can shoot, but not load, a two handed firearm one handed with a -4 to hit.

Alternatively, you could flavor a sawed off shotgun as either a double barreled pistol or dragon pistol. This makes it one handed for shooting, but still two handed to load.

And I like the idea of converting the Sawblade Glaive into the chainsaw.

I agree that using the dragon pistol is the better way to simulate the sawed off shotgun. The bigger problem is a level 1 solution to reloading - in the movie by the time Ashe had to chop off his hand he was above level 1, so perhaps keep the character with two hands until his hand becomes corrupted and has to be chopped off and replaced with a chainsaw.

There are clockwork prosthetics in Magical Marketplace that are perfect for Ash's groovy hand be makes in Army of Darkness.

Heh I have a PFS Gunslinger named Ash.
Human, dressed like a commoner with an apron and bearing an obscure sigil that says "S-Mart"

Level 1 right? I did more of a 'flavor piece' and went with a cold-iron spiked gauntlet. I figure I'll get into the clockwork prothesis or something similar once he can afford it.

Plus you can still used the hand with a gauntlet for loading/firing purposes.

Maybe your gm would let you re-cast ammo drop as a gun feat, maybe with additional penalties (like at least move action instead of swift).

You're probably right in regards to level 1 chainsaw hand. I'll probably use a blunderbuss and ripsaw glaive until I'm higher level, at which point I'll have an "accident" and have to create a prosthetic when I have more options.

Oh, and I'll make sure to start researching some one liners right away. Groovy.
