Longest number of rounds in a combat

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

I'm currently in round sixteen of a combat. What is everyone's personal record?

In episode 2 of Way of the Wicked, I think we got to 12 or 14 rounds during one of the tower defense battles.

6 rounds until one of the animals killed the PC stupid enough draw attention to us and the GM decided to give us a break.

58, tower defense against 50 orcs. I helped someone don full plate whilst my friends held the door and threw alchemist fire.

I once had a GM who regularly threw all of the day's encounters at the party at once. This included fighting whole towns. I never kept track, but my wizard ran out of spells regularly even at 10th level.

13 rounds... Damn lich wouldn't die, go figure.

Lich: Been there done that!

One time I was in a game that was an undead siege with legos. That one took forever and was really the DM and Co-DM going at it with their two forces they built with some player interaction.

I can't remember exactly but I know I've had two haste spells run out in the same combat with a level nine sorcerer.

17. Rise of the Runelords. Can't remember which boss fight it was (I think it was Pappy), but things went comically poorly for both sides. It wasn't so much that the Heroes won the battle, they just lost more slowly then the bad guys lol.

I have two marathon battles that come to mind. The first was Dragotha in AoW. That one took two full 5 hour play sessions to complete. The round count must have been into the 30s maybe.

Another one the end boss of Kingmaker. It had such strong defenses that only two characters could inflict any damage. One was Mazed and the other Dominated. The battle was a real chess match as the two sides tried to use the two high DPS characters against each other.

Hiya.

...amateurs...

Glacial Rift of the Frost Giant Jarl. 1e AD&D. I was DM and the players managed to successfully screw themselves *royally*. They managed, through dumb luck, ill-placed spells, and party split up to pretty much bring the entire rift down on them. Luckily for me, my players at the time were smart little buggers, and worked together like a well-oiled killing machine. Somehow, they managed to barely survive (a few henchmen and many hirelings did not, but still...).

Anyway, I don't remember the number of rounds, but the fight itself lasted about 6 hours game time. And in AD&D, 6 hour real-time combat would be roughly 30 seconds to two or so minutes. I figure...150 rounds wouldn't be out of the question. And in AD&D, a round is a minute long...so the PC's were fighting, "in game", for roughly an 2 and a half hours! O_O

Crazy fight. Hellufun...but crazy. Odd turn out for that adventure. Pretty much did it "all" in one fight...afterwards there was only one thing left for the PC's to do; go through pockets and look for loose change. ;)

Longest EVER? Easy. An uncountable number of rounds of combat in In Nomine, single combat challenge between two "tank" fighters, one angel and one demon. Neither could do damage to the other except on a divine intervention, which happened on three ones or three sixes on 3d6. It took ages... but the other players were well invested in it and cheered on. In retrospect, I should have just rolled 1d2 to see which divine intervention that happened next.

Longest d20? The final boss in one of the scenarios of the SCAP. A massive AC, oodles of hit points and low damage output ensured something like thirty rounds.

Spoiler:
The dwarf, wossname.

savage tide for me.

38 rounds.

instead of working through Scuttlecove and taking out smaller bands of the crimson fleet, they teleported to the top of The Wreck , gained everything's attention, and started fighting their way down.

40 rounds against the Sons of Carrion in a slightly modified version of "The Jackal's Price."

I believe it was 42 rounds in the Seven Swords of Sin module against a black dragon in an underground lake. He grappled one of the party members and played 'bobbing for dwarves' because none of the other party members could function underwater at all.
