DIY PACG Accessories

Pathfinder Adventure Card Game General Discussion

I've been looking around for some things to continue to accessorize my PACG playing. I'm talking here specifically about things that aren't available in any official version (i.e. not playmats). I wanted to share some things I have found an enjoy using. If anyone else wanted to share what they've done, that would be wonderful as well.

Card Stands
I like to make my game a bit more "vertical". And having the locations stand up make them easier to read. I actually found a few options for this.

This item I discovered from Ultra Pro. I've got them and they work really well.

I don't see them for sale on Paizo's site (indeed I only stumbled across them after while for something else on Ultra Pro's website.) But the Ultra Pro site has a link to purchase them on Amazon.

I also asked the folks at The Broken Token if I could buy 11 Adventure Stands since I didn't desire to have anything holding the location deck (which is what their Location Stands do), just the location card itself. They were great and complied with my request.

I like both of them quite a bit and which I like more is actually quite difficult to say. The Broken Token ones were harder to put together (I broke one, but they replaced it for free), but they also feel thicker than the Ultra Pro, which I like.

I'm able to fit 11 of the Broken Token adventure stands in the side of my Broken Token wooden insert, and I anticipate the same thing with the Ultra Pro ones.

Turntable
This one is really more Calthaer's doing than mine. But he built a very nice turntable, which we use with our six player group. We'll be trying the location stands on it this week. It is so easy to rotate the table around to you when it is your turn so that your location is right in front of you. Maybe he'll come along and share a picture of it.

I've been working on one for myself, but haven't had a lot of time to put into it lately. So for now it sits in my garage.

Character Standees
Again getting my game to go vertical a bit. I made some from the community use images of the iconics and some plastic bases from Fantasy Flight Games. Still working on getting them perfect. There are some on BGG as well. I would love it if Paizo could convince Reaper or Whizkids to release all the iconics in some pre-painted miniature version as I'm not adept at miniature painting. I have been tempted to just buy the unpainted ones and use them as is though. If only Pazio would extend the subscriber's discount to them...

Character Cards
I really can't stress enough how much I like this one. I simply scanned the character cards and printed copies of them on card stock. And I did the same with the role cards, only with the role cards I first edited them together with the character cards and then printed them out as a single square. On the other side of each is the deck list side of the character card.

I love it. They feel great in my hand, people each get their own real card to write on. It is my absolute favorite. I snapped a picture the other night and I'll share it soon. Just want to make sure it all looks as good as it can look.

Anyone else doing anything similar or got anything they use?

Automatic card shuffler. Best 12 bucks ever.

I love these! What's your storage solution (if you have one)?

I'm using the Broken Token insert right now. When the Ultra Pro one comes out, I'm going to take a serious look at it too.

I also have a simple expandable folder like this. I have the Paizo character sheets in there, along with most of the accessories I've made myself. So the removed cards tracker, the various layouts and the cards for the character I'm playing are all in that file folder. Basically any paper that doesn't fit in the box goes in there.

The location stands fit in the Broken Token insert. I also have a pen, a pencil, the standees and a few other small things in there.

Scarab Sages

The turntable Hawkmoon and I use in our group games looks like this:

Behold, the turntable, with some PACG cards thereupon

I posted a brief list of components and rough instructions in this thread.

Ok. I've got a new idea that I might try to tackle. I was thinking about all the displayed cards, especially the ones that you display by another character or at a location or by the scenario or whatever. And it got me thinking that it might be nice to have a way to mark who played the card. Then, I thought of the coin capsules MyFly had mentioned when taking about "premium mythic charges" before. So, I'm thinking about making circular images of each character's face, putting them in coin capsules, and then using them to mark who played a displayed card when it isn't displayed in front of the one playing it.

I'm thinking maybe printing them on these.

Then putting them in these.

I've also considered just printing them on heavier cardstock and using something like this to cut them out.

I'm guessing that some of you out there might have some other suggestions for how to do this. If so, I'd be interested in any feedback or input.

I figure this probably really isn't that big of an issue that I'm trying to solve, but really creating things for PACG is fun, so I figured, why not.

Thanks.

I'm jealous of that turntable!

I made an extremely cheap option using 2 products from Home depot. An 18" pine round and a set of bearings. Total cost was $10.

They have a 24" round but it would be too big for our rectangular table (players on the long sides would have too little room in front of them)

If I did it again I would stain it or glue some felt onto the top surface. I did put some little rubber feet on the bottom of the bearing set to keep the bottom half stationary (and to prevent scratching the table.)

A cheap option for those without creative talent like myself :)

The bottom circle on that turntable is actually that 24" round you saw at Home Depot.

Re: Markers for who played a card: we haven't needed a solution for this; it's easy enough to remember. Post-It Flags might be a more useful starting point if you want something to attach to the card/protector without making anything permanent.

You could also make a little nametag to put in the card protector/under the card. (It'd be almost identical to a divider.)

Oh... I like that idea. Plus it is cheaper. So something a little taller than the card that says who played it. Excellent. I'm going with that route.

If you play a lot of tactical mini-based games, like, say, the Pathfinder RPG, you might have these little babies kicking around. Should stand well on cards. Something low-profile like a PennyGem might also serve.
