I was talking with some people and wanted to get a clarification on something.
When we setup our company on the GW site, and people join them, is it the company they are joining, or the settlement?
When the "guild master" (For lack of better terms) posts for people to join the land rush, do they create using settlement name, or create using company name?

So, they aren't joining a company or a settlement. But they are putting votes towards a settlement, not a company.
If my interpretation above is sound, I would say the guild should go by the settlement name, so that people joining know they are putting their vote towards X settlement. After all, the company name will really mean nothing to this land rush.

@shane, That is what I was basically understanding. So when land rush 2 goes live, if I want a settlement, I should create a settlement name and have others join it to get the votes to claim one of the 30 spots. But once in-game is when I create the company of UNC for UNC members to join.
Ryan, is this correct?

I have the feeling that this is correct, and assuming as such I would expect that threads (or maybe just one to consolidate) will post to "advertise" settlements prior to the actual land rush. Yeah there are those already known, like Gothica (spelling?)for example, but others less known will want to become known and the forums are the best place to get that recognition.
Just a thought.

Some people will use the name of their guild, because that is how they expect their guild members to find them in the list. Some people will use the name of their Settlement because that is the in-game identity they are trying to bootstrap and their meta-game Guild may not have a name that is meaningful in the context of the River Kingdoms.
You get to choose whatever you want to do.
