year 4643 AR

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

What Earth year would 4643 be?

If the Golarion year is equivalent to ours, and we take the first recorded mention of baba yaga as say, fifty years before she was born... then...

Somewhere in the 37th century.

EDIT: Also, thank you for the interesting though experiment.

Actually I need to correct myself, BCE is another way of saying Before common Era, or in this case, before the birth if christ, (if you believe in christianity) As such, using her information, she was born 75 years before jesus, which makes my earlier calculations, VERY wrong.

It is in fact, 1848. Provided there isn't a time differential between the two worlds. And of course if you accept BCE in golarion setting as referring to earth time.

What technology level would you say that there at? I've heard some were in the world there is gunpowder. An with magic the imagination is the limit when replacing tech or is magic really tech lol... Im just trying to get a grasp of a few things. I am a new GM working on my first campaign set with in Glorian. THANKS for the answer.

Ok so 1848AD?

You really can't use a world with powerful magical items and liken it to our own, we HAD to find easier ways of doing things because we don't have the options they do, but I'd say, if I was forced too, that they're around the pirates age. At least in technological development.

Thank you. I need to find q group so I can get my Pirate on arrrrr lol.

So, IIRC, every year in Golarion correlates to a year in our time. From Reign of Winter, we know that 4713 AR is 2013. So that makes this year 4714 AR.

So finding the year of 4643 is then simple math. It's 71 years in the past, making 4643 equivalent to 1943.

Reign of Winter took place in 4713 AR, which we find out is 1918 CE here on Earth.

4643 AR would equal 1847 CE on Earth

Rasputin Must Die! sorta argues strongly against this, starting in 4713 AR and heading to 1918 AD or so Russia with no real time travel implications...so, while the years advance at the rate ours do, there appears to be a 95 year gap there.

Which makes the 1848 date stated above likely accurate.

EDIT: Ninja'd.

I just worked from Baba yaga's birthdate as listed. Being her birthdate is 2720 AR, 75 BCE We just take 4643 minus 2720 equals 1923 minus 75 for 1848.

I guess I needed to show my work. Any key differences in timing that are contradictory, I'd put up to extremely small variances in the rate time flows.

To confirm what others have said, the accurate answer is 1848.

Therefore, this year (2014) is 4809 AR.

When Aroden was raising the Starstone and founding Absalom, Stonehenge was being built. Egypt (at the time in the Second Dynasty) wouldn't start building pyramids until a century later.

If you're going to use Common Era instead of BC/AD, shouldn't you be consistent and use eg 'Common Reckoning' instead of 'Aroden Reckoning'? :p

Why does the Foreword say 4713 =2013 then? Or did I read that wrong?

This is in Real World Earth, not in Pathfinder's Earth.

GOLARION = 4714
PATHFINDER's EARTH = 1919
REAL WORLD's EARTH = 2014

So in what Golarion year did NASA launch the last of America's deep space probes?

...It just occurred to me. Osirion was founded in -3470 AR. That's 6265 BC, PF Earth reckoning. That's the time frame of Catalhoyuk, and the 8.2 kiloyear event.

Dynastic Egypt wouldn't be founded for another 3,000 years. Ra, Osiris, and all the old Osiriani gods didn't migrate to Golarion from Earth. They spread to Earth from Golarion.

ETA: Highhelm was founded around the same time as Dynastic Egypt. Osirion was in the middle of its Second Age. Thuvia had been ceded from Osirion about 500 years before.

They're referring to the fact that Golarion's calendar advances as ours does (it's 4714 in Golarion at the moment, for example), making things that explicitly occur in 4713 on Golarion basically need to be released in 2013. It's not a statement of IC equivalence, but OOC.

Yep. James Jacobs explicitly noted this in some other thread (maybe the thread on the Blog Post featuring the Gods or the Ask James Jacobs thread) already.

So what year do you think blackfang the dragon would have happened sense you meet Kendra Deverin  Sandpoint. She as been mayor since 4702 AR. What year would the rune lord ap start

The article on the Osiriani gods confirms this.

Burnt offerings was published in 2007, so Rise of the Runelords takes place in 4707

I've made a timeline for my game of Runelords, which can be used for others, but it has potential spoilers for book 1 (as of this posting, more to come later).

Also is there a module or something for Blackfang? I'd like to read that.
