Immunity to traits question

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

In the Halls of Seduction Scenario, the nasty Alu Demons have the following immunities, Electricity, Fire, & Poison.

Seoni was unfortunately facing one of these with the following in hand.
Poison Blast = Arcane+ 2d12 Poison
Lightning Bolt = Arcane +3d6 Electricity
Innate Spell = Arcane +1d6 Fire

I researched this but did not find a definitive answer.

Does the inclusion of a trait make all the dice useless OR is the extra dice the ones that contain the trait. (ie the 3d6 for Lightning Bolt)

In the former case she is going to get really hurt, and in the latter has a chance to minimize the damage or with blessings perhaps take the demon down.

What is the actual ruling on this?

It's worse than that.

If the card you’re encountering states that it is immune to a particular trait, players may not play cards with the specified trait, use powers that would add that trait to the check, or roll dice with that trait during the encounter.

oiy vey :/

Looks like Seoni will have to punch wildly with her fists and play some blessings, as well as beg her friends for help. (Haven't gotten to that scenario yet, so hopefully all that stuff isn't prohibited as well.) Maybe you at least have her "Pharasma d12" power?

I played that she could use her innate arcane die by discarding. Added 1 blessing and failed the test by 1

I am sure she did not get another turn after that so even if she had suffered her whole hand in damage it wouldn't have effected the end result. But certainly good to know.

Sidebar question

I noticed they made the fire trait for Sajan's fists optional. Does that logic carry through for Seoni?

Or does she have to grab that Acid trait for her innate spell to give her a choice?

If you can add a trait because of a feat you selected, it's optional. If not, it's not.

Story-wise:
Seoni is casting a fireball. Or, if she likes, an acidball. But it must be a ball of something.
Sajan is activating a specific power to make his hands combust. But he's not like that all day long.

Suspected as much Thanks gents.

Yeah, Seoni really does not like that scenario, especially the location where you can't play spells. The spell-casters pretty much have Swipe, Holy Light, and the Cold Bolt (forget the card name but adds 2d6). Well, unless you pick up Acid Arrow during the scenario. Best bet is to try and ferret them out and leave them to the non-spell-casters.

In our game Seoni's first encounter Underneath Sandpoint was with the Iron Golem. That was seven cards into the discard pile. The rest of us were amused. Thankfully she was healed by good Father Zantus and Lini.
