Rules Questions

My players found a philosopher's stone, but i can't find price for lead anywhere.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

No idea. It's been asked before, but no answer has been provided.

Scrap prices

Lead is 82 cents a pound and Iron is 18 cents a pound.
That is 4.5 times as valuable.

Core has 1 pound of iron as 1 sp, so 4 sp and 5 cp for a pound of Lead.

The price of lead is 82 cents a pound currently. D20 Modern says 20 Dollars = 1 GP.

Therefore .82*20.00 (one gold piece in dollars) = 16.4 Lbs of Lead per gold piece, which equates to 1 sp, 7 cp or 2 sp to make things simple for a pound of lead.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I would suggest just rounding up and having lead cost 5 sp a pound. Since that works out pretty nicely in how it interacts with the philosopher stone's requirements for lead or iron.

And here i was ready to link James' answer (from his thread) so that anyone can see it.

The problem with your model is that your price for lead is for the current day. It fails to take into account why the price for lead is so high; lead smelting in the US being brought to a halt as a backdoor to gun control and other such factors. I think a better way to gauge its price would be to see what lead was going for during a period where guns available in the Pathfinder universe, were available. Finding that data might be a trick though. :/
