Nualia's "Evil" twin - Ailaun (Mirror universe build requested) (SPOILERS)

Advice

Ive been getting into Rise of Runelord's story lately and would like to mix one of the characters from this Adventure Path with one of my favorite TV plot points. The mirrored evil universe version of a major character, in this case the mirrored version of Naulia.

****SPOILER SPACE**** dont read this thread if you dont want possible RORL spoilers ******

Nualia's Rise of Runelord stat box:
Female aasimar cleric of Lamashtu 4/fighter 2, CE, wields +1 bastard sword, channels negative energy, Feats-ferocious strike, fury of the Abyss, Lamashtu's Mark Stats-Str 16, Dex 12, Con 14, Int 10, Wis 16, Cha 17. Skills-Diplomancy +5, Intimidate +12

I can see this build going a couple different directions. (1) I take Nualia's background and put a good slant on them; i.e. LG, channels positive energy, Diplomancy greater than intimidate, etc...(2) give Ailaun a complete opposite build; i.e. Tiefling, LG, bump Dex/Con/Int and lower Str/Wis/Cha or (3) a mixture of the two; i.e. Tiefling, LG, worships a good god and is proud of her beauty and heritage.

Thoughts?

I think making her a mixture of the two would be appropriate imo, mirroring everything would make her a lawful good wizard gnome or something lol.

Keeping aasimar and making good would probably fit, maybe something like this?

I think the tiefling option is better. One of her themes if i recall was, she was blessed with being an aasimar and this lead to jelousy (its been a while so i may have remembered it wrong)

I think making her a tiefling, and this somehow provides you something more for the plot twist if this somehow helped lead to her better life. I think the stats are fine unless the goal is to physically reverse her as well out of a physical combat role.

Although one caviet to this is that tiefling stats may not work as well.. that like a 4 pt swing n charisma

Would you start as fighter then go cleric after? (nice build btw)

Along with the tiefling angle, making a note of how this character probably

Spoiler:
had a good parent rather than the guy that totally dropped the ball with Nualia
can really drive home how their different origins resulted in two very different people.

Keep the recommendations coming. This is the kind of stuff that I was seeking. I could turn the character into a walking nature vs. nurture debate :0

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Will she have a goatee?

Possible god choices:

Erastil LG God of farming, hunting, trade, family Domains-Animal, Community, Good, Law, Plant (Weapon: longbow)

Iomedae LG Goddess of valor, rulership, justice, honor Domains-Glory, Good, Law, Sun, War (Weapon: longsword)

Torag LG God of the forge, protection, strategy Domains-Artifice, Earth, Good, Law, Protection (Weapon: warhammer)

Sarenrae NG Goddess of the sun, redemption, Domains-Fire, Glory, Good, Healing, honesty, healing sun (Weapon: scimitar)

Shelyn NG Goddess of beauty, art, love, music Domains-Air, Charm, Good, Luck, Protection (Weapon: glaive)

Edit: @darkwarriorkarg Of course :)

Just a thought to add, but what if the backgrounds are not so different? Rather, to play on the idea that it is HER that is the opposite, Ailaun has the same background, but it is her Choices that make her who she is. These choices could eventually lead to different outcomes

such as...:
The father of her child stays; the baby is not born a monstrocity; she is the champion/protector of Sandpoint, not its destroyer.

Well yes, but at that point a guy that did not drop the ball and was simultaneously a bad choice on the face of it.

Her hand:
Is there any good aligned augmentation that I can do with her hand to go in the opposite direction of Nualia's demonic hand?

Most mirror scenarios I have come across are mental mirrors, so race change is unlikely. The mirror can be Good/Evil, Law/Chaos, both, or neither. For the "neither" change, it is the goal that has changed, not the methods. If one is trying to destroy a group, the mirror needs the group together to work its plan. Mirror scenarios often use eerily similar duplicates, with minor subtle changes that have profound effects. One could be a public hero while the other is a villain. The mirror also affects the surrounding environment, so that the twin might be the same but in a twisted universe, and the problems that brings.

Now, the twin could be a second person, or it could be a created being from encountering an artifact, or it could one being split into two. Star Trek has done all three.

Lastly, do either or both twins know of their double?

Hope this gives you ideas.

Cevah,

Thanks for your comments. Initially, I was leaning towards this approach but I thought about the character's background and Ailaun be a tiefling (a 3rd class citizen in many areas)who finds beauty in herself as opposed to an aasimar, Nualia, who views herself as ugly to be somewhat appealing.

Traditionally, I think your comments are more inline with how these scenarios have typically played out. Ive been going back n forth between the two.

Instead of twins, how about triplets? :-)
