Hey folks, Fratmancy's back with another question for the paizo community.
I'm running a level 1 adventure ( The Godsmouth Heresy ) with two individuals, and am very much interested in running a DMPC to be part of the adventure, and to round at the party.
The problem is, we've got a Paladin(Meat / DPS) and an Oracle (Support) and I don't know what to rock! Being that my character isn't going to have that much of an impact on the game, any suggestions as to what is available would be appreciated!

Wizard, so that your raty has full-access to arcane casting. Just make him a support wizard and not a blaster one.
A Foresight wizard with Improved Initiative will always be the first to play, so he can lay down some battlefield control or buff a player. Also, remember thet with the prefered spell feat you can replace the divination spells prepared with useful spells, like Haste.
Also, give him the Craft Wondorus Items feat.

When I have to DMPC, I like to go support. It's very rare that you show up a party member, when much of what you're doing is buffing them, but you still serve as a combat capable character. Since you have an Oracle, Bard seems like the top choice. I don't remember the Module too much beyond my simple read through, where it seemed like a standard dungeon crawl, so you might want to invest a point in disable, and potentially take the Trapfinder trait, if there are traps, as those could be an issue for a smaller party.

Bard is really a great choice here.
You will be a great buffer, and a better skill monkey, than any Rogue/Ninja.
Bardic Knowledge will allow you to drop helpful info into the campaign, and you will always be able to contribute to combat.
still don't see how the bard is a "better" skill monkey.

Versatile Performance. Lore Master. Jack of All Trades.

mhmm.
so versatile performance allows about the same skill ranks per level as a rogue gets eventually. although you don't have those skills until those levels, or you have wasted skill points.
I never claimed a rogue was a knowledge skill monkey.
so, at level 19 a bard can take 10 on any skill. ok. rogues can do that too, and they can do it UNDER PRESSURE. (a whole 6-8 levels before the bard I might add)

Agree, bard!... for all the reasons above plus roleplaying gold opporutunities including:
1) Excuse for the DM to SING
2) Excuse for the DM to DANCE
3) Excuse for the DM to taunt the encounter they have to fight but are trying to negotiate with
4) Excuse for the DM to negotiate with the encounter they need to talk to but are trying to fight
5) Excuse for the DM to drop random one liners from popular movi...er... "Taldorian Operas"
6) Excuse for the DM to wear sequined shirts to "get into character"
7) Excuse for the DM to wear a funny hat to "get into character"
My bard PC is the backup, does the bard stuff plus is the backup wizard, cleric, melee fighter, and archer. There is usually someone who does each role better, but she can step in any of those roles that need assistance (or the primary is temporarily out of action).
