Is there a way to track players?

Hi,

I just ran my first PFS event, and was wondering if there was a database or a way to find players to get their membership number. One of my GM's forgot to get all the player numbers after the event, and I have one person I cannot easily contact to ask him for his. Any help would be appreciated :)

I don't believe there's any comprehensive database of player's contact details, as Pathfinder is global and it would be a complete nightmare to maintain. Your best best would be to see if they're on this website and drop them a private message.

If they're registered on Paizo with their character's alias, then you may be able to find them by doing a search (using the search tool on the left of the site and setting it to look for Users).

If they're not registered on the website, then you should be able to get Society ID numbers generated which you can give to the player the next time they turn up for a session to allow them to link their character to that number.

I'd suggest maybe creating a Google document for your local region where players (or GMs, or both) can track numbers and scenarios played, but in practice this can get messy as ppl invariably don't update it as much as needed. You need someone dedicated to maintaining it.

I have a custom reporting sheet I use which asks for a player's e-mail address (for just such a situation as this) among other useful archival information that can help me re-create a player's chronicle sheets should they be lost.

Depending on the terrain, I'd say a couple ranks in Survival is probably pretty necessary for proper player tracking. DC 20 on hard ground! But if it's very soft, just a good roll should do it.

I recommend chipping them. It is the easiest way.

Spaying and neutering your players might be a little more difficult . . .

Tranq 'em 'n tag 'em buddy. That way you don't need a survival check.

Sorry OP, apart from some of the suggestions already given, there's no way to do exactly what you're asking about.

Hindsight is 20/20, but as an event coordinator along with my wife, we bring plenty of extra sign-in sheets for our GMs. While I expect the GMs at an event to be big boys and girls and have chronicle sheets printed out for their players, I'm always happy to pass out sign-in sheets for any GM who did not print one themselves.

It's a good thing to ask about during your muster as you split off tables. "Okay, you're all set and off to table 3. (insert GM name here), do you have a sign-in sheet for your players? No? Here you go!"

If you are keeping a player database, be careful about what data you keep for your players. Many areas have strict laws about holding other people's personal information.

Thanks all. This was our first PFS experience with running tables, and he just simply forget to get that chronicle sheet filled out once he was done with handing the players their goody sheets. Next time I'll probably have him fill it out at the beginning of the session.

And no,I doubt any of my players would be happy about being tranqued, spayed, neutered or chipped. But, one does what one must.

Yup that's how I usually doing it. While they fill out the sheet I draw out and/or place the maps and/or prepare minis for the first encounter.
