I am looking to kidnap a handful more gods for the World of Izopa
We are using somewhat modified Dawn of Worlds Rules.
What I'm looking for:
1-2 players to join us in the second age.(our game is covering 5 instead of 3 ages)
Players that don't mind somewhat flexible rules as we work out our dynamic and world.
Players that want to see a rich and interesting world built, not just one for their munchkin races to run roughshod.
How to Apply:
I will be selecting players based on deity concepts.
I need,
Deity Name/Title
Domains or Purview
General personality and attitude
Background story
Each player can submit as many concepts as they like but will only be able to play 1-2 deities.
I suggest you look at our Campaign and the Gameplay so you can avoid concepts that are already in there.
| Yidhra, Goddess of Paradoxes |
As one of the current players, I can attest to the fact that this is actually quite a lot of fun. It's different from what I've done before, but it's hard to match the degree of creative flexibility with what you're doing. XD
Also, joining now means you get to skip out on the less-interesting creation of landmasses and jump in right when we're making races and such. It's a good time to get in. ^^

This is a character who I've put years of effort into. He was the main villain in my first homebrew campaign and has seen action in any number of games as a mortal being. Hope you like him!
Nareth I'grada ~ (Pronounced Nare-ith Ee-gra-da)
Titles The Black Gloved Hand, The Merciful Executioner
Domains Darkness, Death, Law, Nobility, Scalykind, Void
Subdomains Darkness (Loss), Death (Undead), Law (Inevitable), Nobility (Martyr), Scalykind (Dragon)
General Personality and Attitude
Nareth is a cold, intimidating god. His decisions and acts come slowly but with great drive and purpose. He cares little of what others think of him, but he always hears their thoughts and always seeks to understand the grander view of things. When he makes a decision it is often harsh, but never unfair.
Nareth is a god who gets things done. Especially the things that are dark and gritty. Simply put, he does what is necessary.
Background
Nareth was born a man and the first half of his life he was a simple sell sword. When the chromatic dragons massed and threatened the land he was hired as one of the thousands to protect the existence of mankind. It was a long war, but men do not stand against the might of the dragons. Nareth survived the war, but he was only one of dozens, and only a handful of other warriors were left alive.
Mankind had to survive from that point on, a barely beating heart well hidden in a tiny mountain settlement. Nareth and a few other warriors were out scavenging for food when one of the evil dragons spotted them. It rained down hellfire, killing the entire group save Nareth. The flames flickered around him and burned his clothing, but his skin did not feel it's heat. Then he felt the flesh beneath his skin crawl, lancing pain throughout his entire body. After the process ended he rose to see his very body had transformed. He was coated head to toe in scales like a dragon, but still shaped like a man. They scales were primarily black, but flecks of red and gold adorned him and the great leathery wings now sprouting from his back. He had been blessed (or cursed) with being the first dragonborn.
With his new form came divine magic and power. He lived through generations, and when man was powerful enough he lead them in the second dragonwar. This was not an honest battle to be fought in open fields; this was a war to be fought for survival, to win. They destroyed the dragon's habitats, poisoned their food, broke their eggs in the night, made the dead walk and fight, and did whatever would help them win. Nareth was at first considered a champion of the people, but by the end of the war he was not seen as a hero; he was seen as the victor. To save his brothers he martyred his own humanity.

Nar'Shuun
Titles First among the Damned, Apostle of Possession and the Bargainer
DomainsEvil(devil), Law(slavery), Magic (divine), Repose (souls), Knowledge (memory)
Personality/Background
Nar'shuun is the creation of the very cosmos itself, Nar'shuun was willed into being to maintain the cosmic order. For every soul that has ever existed their is a place in the planes upon the death of the mortal form. Mortals would be assigned to afterlives that best suited their personalities. Nar'shuun was created to oversee one of these planes, for all its power Nar'shuun is but a tool of the cosmos. His purpose is to spread what mortals call "evil" into the cosmos, yet in his first form Nar'shuun was judged by the cosmos to be unsuitable for his task. For while he spread evil as intended he forsook his dominion and rebelled against his purpose. The cosmos reshaped Nar'shuun turning him into the pure embodiment of both evil and order. Nar'shuun is but a tool that has been molded by the cosmos, Nar'shuun exists to serve the balance of the cosmos and nothing else.
Duties
As the lord of the Inferno where the souls of the evil will be housed for eternity Nar'shuun has many duties as ordained by the cosmos. It is Nar'shuun's task to lead mortals to evil, forbidden knowledge and inevitably to the Inferno. To do this Nar'shuun looked forth upon the world and took the most pathetic of the individual races, the infirm, the weak, those who were simply not meant to survive in the world. Nar'shuun whispered to them and offered them the chance to live, all they need do was become his first servitors. So they did, through Nar'shuun's power they would arise to become the first devils, daemons and demons. With these tools in place Nar'shuun set about to do what it was designed to do, evil was spread to the races and corruption was sown. Soon Nar'shuun gained his first priests who were known as the First Warlocks, they were given all manner of power in exchange for undying obedience to their lord Nar'shuun. These warlocks would ascend to become the first archdevils, Overdaemons and Demon Lords. While all represented a different form of evil they all served Nar'shuun.

The Divine Twins, Atresse and Zurakar
Atresse - Goddess of the Sun, Divine Magic, Righteous War, and Family
Titles The Star of the Morning, Lady of Silver and Gold, The Shining Blade
Domains Good, Magic (Divine), War (Tactics), Protection (Defense), Sun (Day), Community (Family, Home)
Personality Atresse is the spirit of the fierce love that parents show toward their children. She is the willingness of a person to put their life on the line to protect other people or their homeland. She is the sun giving life to all the things in the world. Atresse is righteous, but not sanctimonious. She'll fight for good, but not just to fight. She is kind to all those she deems friends, but an implacable foe. Her primary concern is with the livelihood and defense of all the races, not just ones she creates. Atresse's greatest joy is when people live together in harmony.
Zurakar - God of the Moon, Knowledge, Arcane Magic, and Language
Titles The Star of the Evening, Lord of the Rune-Carved Stave, He Who Watches All
Domains Law, Magic (Arcane), Rune (Language, Wards), Artifice (Construct), Darkness (Moon), Nobility (Leadership)
Personality Zurakar is the embodiment of the progress of civilization and the mind. He is the font of knowledge the races draw upon to create just law. He is the moon giving light to the world in the black of night. Zurakar is erudite and somewhat arrogant. He prefers to talk rather than fight, but will do so if pressed. He is more concerned with magic, language, and technology than anything else, and is usually somewhat distracted with working on these things. Zurakar's greatest delight is to come up with a new way to do something.
Background
Atresse and Zurakar were born as deities. Their parents were the God of Time, Borandur, and the Earth Goddess, Erena. Borandur and Erena had already created the world by the time the twins were born. Atresse and Zurakar were born into a war between their parents, and Goltares, the god of destruction, who was also Borandur's brother. Each side had many other gods fighting on their side, and the war continued for ages. Eventually, Goltares gained the upper hand, and began to unmake the world. A final, desparate attack was launched, and it would decide the fate of the world. Ultimately, the attack failed and Goltares victory was complete. As Borandur and Erena died, they used the last of their power to send their children to a far off plane where they could, perhaps, make a new world where life could flourish.
Atresse and Zurakar complement each other, rather than being opposites. Together, they are gods of the two facets of civilization, good people and just laws. They are the sun and moon above, keeping celestial order. They are the two sides of magic working together.
Now Atresse and Zurakar seek a place to build a world that won't be destroyed by entropy and dark gods. They are still somewhat scarred by the events they have endured. Of Goltares, the twins have seen no sign.
Side Note: Zurakar isn't a god of darkness, but there's no plain old moon domain, and he's the moon god to Atresse's sun goddess. Maybe something like an alternate darkness domain for him like the alternate death domain for Pharasma would be in order if I'm chosen. Or maybe even a full on moon domain.

Caysin
Titles The Laughing Blade, The One Among us, The White Rose
Domains Chaos, Good, Liberation, Luck, Protection
Subdomains Good (Redemption), Liberation (Revolution), Luck (Fate), Protection (Defense)
General Personality and Attitude
Caysin is a lighthearted god who believes in few shackles on life. He fights against oppression and unjust rule in all of their forms. He laughs and jests about everything, believing that is the only way to properly enjoy life. Sometimes his carefree attitude leads to carelessness.
Background
Caysin was born a man into the slums of the heart of a tyrannical nation. The law was cruel and unjust, draining the life from the people to feed the power hungry nobles and tyrants of the land. Caysin began an uprising of the people to throw off the heavy shackles that bound them. Caysin found a job near the tyrants and spied on them, feeding information to the revolutionists. It took many years of spying, stealing weapons, and planning, but eventually there was a full-fledged revolution. Rivers of blood ran through the streets as the hellknights and liberators cut each other down, but at the end of the day Caysin and the people were free. Caysin was found dead at the steps to the king's throne, a dozen dead fully armored hellknights around him. He wore no armor, his right hand clutching a dueling blade and his left clutching a white rose, now spotted with blood. On his face was a smirk, as if he had died laughing. But as his friends reached down to claim his body it faded away, the only things left behind the thin blade and the bloody rose.
Decided to go away from the lawful good type, I had a sudden burst of inspiration to create a god of rebellion after watching Les Mis. What do you think?

Karmesh
Titles The Eternal Judge, The Lightbringer, The Father of Destinies.
Domains Celestial (Sky), Destiny (Herald), Fire (Wrath), Law (Pact), Nobility (Leadership), Sun (Light).
General Personality and Attitude
Karmesh is the essence of light and justice. He is a stern god, bound by duty and by order, but his divine fire will only burn those who have darkness in their heart. His watchful eye protects all those who heed the order of things, and he is the patron of righteous leaders.
Background
Karmesh was a divine spark once, a star in the night sky fighting the all-encompassing darkness of Eternal Night. Over time, many stars fell down on the world or changed position, but not Karmesh. His light became brighter, a tiny beacon of order, far away, for those who knew where to look. But Eternal Night grew with every aeon, and Karmesh watched the essence of countless living beings swallowed by it, until his anger grew into a divine rage. Leaving his position for the first time, he charged across the sky, fire in his gaze and wrath in his heart.
Eternal Night fled, for Karmesh's divine fire was too bright for it to swallow him. Across the four cournes of the world, and all the heights of the sky, Karmesh chased Eternal Night, until it sought refuge under the world, far away from the touch of his light. Karmesh took a vigilant watch, expanding his light until the whole world bathed in his essence. Never again would he allow Ethernal Night to reign again!
But the land and the people suffered, for Karmesh's light was too bright and his judgement too harsh for the world to bear in eternity. And so Karmesh, the Lightbringer, made a pact with Eternal Night. To bring order to the world, he would forgo his position for one cycle, allowing Eternal Night to cover the world again, so he could bring guidance to the spirits in the underworld. Thus, Day and Night were born, the time of Karmesh, and the time of Eternal Night.

I am very impressed and interested in the concepts chosen here. I may have to start a second game because some of these are to good to pass up.
A few questions for some of you.
Kenji, I'm really drawn to your concepts as I had already planned on making the moons a vital part of Arcane Magic. How would Zenkar deal with two moons when he was formed with one in mind, an oversight on his parents side as I guess the idea of more than one didn't occur to them?
Tiasar, I find the opportunity of Caysin delicious as unlike the others he has no godly birth or even divine background, in my mind Hexavos stole him away from Lady Death with a mix of bargaining and gambling. Caysin's first memories after death would be to wake as a god in Izopa. What do you think?
Antauriuk, to be fair your concept is the reason I consider starting another game, I love the back story of your deity, however if I picked you and Kenji's Deities you would have to share the throne of the Sun. If you had to do that how would that work for you? Also secondary question if you found you were stolen away from your rightful place by a jovial thief of an overgod how would you react?
| Antariuk |
Well, I think Kenji's Atresse could team up with Karmesh, as in a divine marriage? Their portfolios complement each other with Good/Law and Nobility/Community... if she isn't chaotic, it would work - but this is just a quick thought of mine, I don't want to step on anyone's toes.
As for the thief, Karmesh would try to find the thief be extending his reach, which in return might cause trouble with his pact made with Eternal Night (a whole saga of a fallen lawful god who betrayed his own portfolio could be made from that.). If caught, Karmesh would judge over the thief (depending on if the thief has divine responsibilities of his own), probably forcing him into Eternal Night's realm (which would give the thief an opportunity each night to exact vengeance on Karmesh's realm). If there was no way to get his rightful place back, or if Karmesh would realize that everything happened according to the overgods's plan, then he would try to adapt - but I can certainly see the potential of him changing into a vengeful spirit, focusing more on his destructive nature.

Zurakar would find it an enjoyable challenge to control multiple moons. He's arrogant, and even after his parents losing a war, he doesn't really have any concept of a challenge being to great for him. As a very young god he was mostly kept out of the fighting.
As to Karmesh, he's kind of a blend of Atresse and Zurakar's portfolio's. He seems like a king of the gods type, while Atresse is almost an earth mother archetype with the focus on community and family, yet she is also the spirit of the sun.
Maybe two disparate sun gods being brought to the same plane will give some good RP opportunity. It might end up with an alliance where both share control of the sun. It might end up as a fight over who controls the sun, with someone changing some portfolios and domains, or it might end up with a second sun being created. No matter what it should be interesting.
