I really liked the gorget as well.
And the beard-knot. Though I did lament that to make any decent use of it you also had to have the beardforge so you didn't have to wait for forever to get your beard back.

A true dwarf would rather tattoo "I'm a bearded Gnome" on his forehead than actually cut off his beard.
Dang, if only there was an item that could instantly generate beards...
Oh, well. There's always ironbeard.

Whoa, Fleshless Shroud made it! I made the top 100 in the two years I competed, despite being a relative tabletop RPG newbie. I'm in good spirits.
Make no mistake, the competition was brutal this year. I saw many items I loved that did not make it. Beard-knot included.
Yes, no dwarf would burn their beard. Even their race description says that dwarven beardlessness is a sign of madness. If it didn't burn the beard, I would totally make a dwarf just for that item.

Provocateur's Pamphlet was one of my favourites! It popped up right after I was complaining about every item being combat flavoured (a bad run, I admit). I thought it was cunning, tricky and flavourful. I saw so many uses for it from a rogue up to no good, to organisations with serious agendas and more.
It's on my keeper's list and my group have already agreed that we're happy to see it in game as a home rule.

Perhaps something ... more combat-oriented for next year will get me there!
That's the most depressing thing in RPGSS '14 I've read so far, counting GM_Sol's eviscerating review of my item. Besides, there's a gossip-themed non-combat item in the Top 32, and the judges liked non-combat items.

I on the other hand thought it was too good. I don't recall it having a save, nor any explanation of how to break or resist the compulsion.

Yeah, the gossiper's gourd. I never saw it during voting, but it is pretty terrific. And to be honest it has more flavor and panache' than my pamphlet, although they do slightly different things.
Don't worry Garrett. I would never go boring combat oriented! That's not my style. However, I will endeavor to tighten up my rules specifics and not leave so much up to interpretation. Purposeful ambiguity seems to turn off some voters.

Well, I didn't even make the top 100. Maybe I should be disappointed, but in a way, it means I can blame the voting public and stand firm in my belief that the judges would have loved it had it been in their reviewing pool. Yeah, that's it. It's all you voters' fault. Yeah. I'm still awesome. Yeah...
Right there with you, man. Pretty sure my item was #101.

I'd also like to add that I'm disappointed in this year's voting, because there were TWO pairs of gorilla feet in this competition and I don't see either pair in that list. Let's do better next time.
I liked the ones that let you shoot a larger-sized bow using your feet. The others were less impressive.

Thank you for the compliment, Bryan. I liked your item. I too am a sucker for items that help role-playing. I also love flavorful items whether combat or non-combat oriented. Keep at it and I am sure you will make it!
