Dragon Disciple - Blood of Dragons

Silver Crusade

The way I read this Prestige Class, it seems to me the only drawback to taking that class (assuming you started out as a Sorcerer of Draconic bloodline) is there are a couple of levels where you don't get a level of spells added to your arcane class.

Due to Blood of Dragons, it seems that you basically get every advantage of leveling up as a Sorcerer would, including breath weapons, resistances, bonus spells, etc.

By the way, the level of this class adds to the effective level of the Sorcerer anyway. So you get the various spell advantages also (range, duration, damage, DC)...right?

Am I missing something? Unless you're really sensitive about getting those occasional missing spell levels added, why wouldn't all Draconic bloodlined Sorcerers automatically take this Prestige Class at 6th level?

Greetings, fellow traveller.

You read the PrC correctly. But don't be mistaken the delayed spell levels as sorcerer already hurt, with the missing CL increase from DD you will lag behind even more; which can become really bad.

Mind you, if you want more survivability (hp, NA increase), a little bit more versatility (yay, bite, +4 to Str, +2 Con, +2 Int, blindsense, wings, breath weapon!) and like the flavor of it: go for it!

Have you read Oterisk's guide on the DD (google doc)? If not, you should!

Might es well enter the discussion.

I'll take a peek at that doc...thanks!

What RuyanVe said, those spellcasting levels you lose is a HUGE issue.

I would say in PFS play due to retirement after 11th level, I realize that missing the upper level spell ability could suck. However, it's compelling to have double the hit points (d12), better BAB, 2 breath weapon attacks per day (early! in leveling), etc.

Might be fun to play it out and find out.
