Synthesist Question

Rules Questions

If a Synthesist is melded within his eidolon, and he uses an alter self spell or racial ability that is restricted to self only, can he use it to change the form of the eidolon?

Neither the synthesist nor his eidolon can be targeted separately, as they are fused into one creature.

Can you cast it on yourself? Yes.

Can you use it to change the "form" of your eidolon? If by form you mean you mean change your base form from Quadruped to Biped, I don't think so.

I say this for a couple of reasons:
1. The spell does not say that you may change your base form.
2. Transmogrify is a level 4 spell, and it specifies that you may NOT change your base form.
3. The Evolutionist is the only archetype that allows you to modify a base form.

That being said, I can't find anything specific enough that says you are not allowed to change your base form. The only thing that is close is that the "base form determines starting stats".

I think he just means how the eidolon looks like.

In which case the answer is yes, although I'm pretty sure that the fluff description notes that you have some symbol on your forehead when the eidolon is summoned that can not be masked with magic.

So as a disguise, the character would need to be wearing a hat or something to hide it...

Thanks. :)
