A good alternative to new spell lists

i understand that paizo isn't going to pump out a bunch of new spell lists for space and time reasons, and you know i can completely understand that. At the same time i feel like the current chop off spell selection is lacking, so i propose a solution that will (hopefully) satisfy both sides:

the classes that i think need editing are hunter, bloodrager and warpriest

What i suggest is the classes be worded as follows:

They cast spells from the druid/cleric/magus spell list with the following changes add X Y Z to availible level 1 spells, A B C to availible level 2 spells and so on

Bloodrager: make all cantrips availible as level one spells and make select level 5 magus spells availible at level 4

hunter: take all CORE (and possibly apg) ranger spells and add them to the selection at reasonable levels

warpriest: same as hunter take all CORE (and possibly apg) paladin spells and add them to a selection of reasonable levels

this would take up comparatively little space and still give these classes a bit more out of their spellcasting that as is feels off. THoughts anyone?

I was going to suggest something very similar. Core/APG spells from class X plus maybe give each class a couple of pages of unique spells.


For Bloodrager maybe but I think discounting spells is a bad idea. The Summoner gets higher level spells at earlier spell levels and has gotten flak about it. In an earlier thread I took a look at the magus spell list and since it does not get discounts like the Summoner it feels like it's actually hindered by it's own spell list as it is stripped down and has very few unique spells which could have existed as arcana.

The Inquisitor, who also is a post core class that has a 6/9 spell list gets some arcane spells in it's spell list but for the most part they can be accessed by domains, meaning that if Inquisitors had access to domain spells (or inquisition spells) Their domain choice would matter a lot more and don't lose many spells (they wouldn't have access to them all the time but you can only know so many spells anyway)

I think I'd rather have expanded spell access through class features such as domains, arcana, blessings, animal aspects ect.


Considering that a 6-level spell list takes half a page (see the Inquisitor or Summoner, for example) and can be put together in about 3 hours, I'd much prefer that it be done properly than with some rather arbitrary and flavourless pick off the shelf.
