Witch Hex and Spectral Hand

So here is an interesting question...

Can I deliver my healing hex using a spectral hand?

From the hex:
"Healing (Su): A witch can soothe the wounds of those she touches. This acts as a cure light wounds spell, using the witch's caster level. Once a creature has benefited from the healing hex, it cannot benefit from it again for 24 hours. At 5th level, this hex acts like cure moderate wounds."

I'm highlighting "This acts as a cure light wounds spell".

The difficulty comes with the description of Spectral hand:
"A ghostly hand shaped from your life force materializes and moves as you desire, allowing you to deliver low-level, touch range spells at a distance"

A hex is NOT a spell, it is a supernatural ability HOWEVER the healing Hex states that it "...acts as a cure light wounds spell".

SO -
How do you use it? - Supernatural ability
WHAT IS IT? - A spell

I personally believe yes but I'd like to know if there has been a ruling on it.

I personally believe No, but don't know of any formal ruling on the matter.

While I'll agree with you that the Witch's Healing hex is further defined by the text of the Cure Light Wound spell, the Spectral Hand Spell description makes it very clear that's it's only usable with Ranged Touch spells. That's stated in the descriptive text for Spectral Hand:

"A ghostly hand shaped from your life force materializes and moves as you desire, allowing you to deliver low-level, touch range spells at a distance"

The Cure Light Wounds spell text identifies it as a touch spell and not ranged touch. IMO that would make it unusable with Spectral hand - same would be true for Cure Moderate Wounds which the Witch's Healing Hex evolves into at level 5.

No, you've read that in the wrong order.

If it was a "ranged touch attack" you wouldn't need spectral hand. It is a "touch range". Meaning - Range: Touch.

Doh, yes I was indeed flipping the terms - temporary moment of dyslesia. ;) From my understanding of the rules a spells descriptive text does factor in when a supernatural or spell-like ability makes direct reference to one. The intro for the Special Abilities section seems to reinforce that by stating that some function the same as spells:

"A number of classes and creatures gain the use of special abilities, many of which function like spells"

Based on that, it seems that the Healing Hex is one of those supernatural abilities that functions like a spell; cure light/moderate wounds. So considering that I would say yes, it would be possible to deliver it with Spectral Hand.
