Acolyte of the Skin: How would you do it?

Conversions

How would you convert it? Leave it as is but with the standard conversion applied or would you do something more?

Personally I was thinking of giving it full casting and telepathy 60ft 4th level and immunity to poison at 8th level.

It's not a permanent fusion and you don't change creature type.

Silver Crusade

I'm not exactly sure on that one. I never played that PrC, but I have read it a couple of times. Might take a little work but converting it should be doable.

Probably as a magus archetype.

Maybe they'll get around to that but for now i'm sticking with the prestige class.

Silver Crusade

HMmmmm Looking at the old PrC There's quite a bit to convert. I know there was a formula of sorts for the prerequisites once the Core Rules came out, I just don't recall what they are off the top of my head; but I can definitely see some alterations made to them to make it more Pathfinder friendly.

Given the flavor of the class there are a couple of ways to do this. One would be to do an archetype of something (likely a Magus or Sorcerer with certain bloodlines being a prerequisite; Infernal or Abyssal most likely) OR to do a real PrC and stat it out like it was meant to be. Granted it may favor more melee based casters given the nature of the class, but I think it can work.

I'll have to give it more thought.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Well, the Demoniac is a pretty good substitute.

But for an actual conversion, I would suggest basing it on the Dragon Disciple.

I would suggest something like

Spoiler:
Prerequisites
Knowledge (Planes) 5 ranks
Speak Infernal
Cast 2nd level spells, if a sorcerer must have Infernal bloodline

Infernal Blood- Levels stack with sorcerer to determine bloodline powers and effects. If no bloodline, gains Infernal bloodline powers, using class level as sorcerer level. Replaces Blood of Dragons.

Natural Armor- At 1st, character gains Natural Armor 1. Increases by 1 at 4th and 7th level.

Ability Boost- Increases Dex by 2 at 1st and 4th level. Increase Con by 2 at 6th level. Increase Int by 2 at 8th level. Modifies Ability Boost.

Bloodline feat- At 2nd, 5th, and 8th level, gain one bonus feat from the Infernal bloodline list. Modifies Bloodline feat.

Eyes of Terror- At 2nd level, the bloodline arcana now applies to [Fear] effects as well as [Charm] effects. Replaces Dragon Bite.

Hellfire- At 3rd level, gain ability to use Hellfire once per day. Once your bloodline level is high enough to use this ability, gain one extra use per day. Replaces Breath Weapon.

Eyes of Darkness- Gain Darkvision 60'. If you already possess Darkvision, increase range by 30'. The Acolyte of the Skin can also see through magical darkness within range of their Darkvision. Replaces Blindsense.

Fiery Form- At 7th level, you can cast Elemental Body (Fire) 1/day as a spell like ability. At 10th level, you spell like ability becomes Fiery Body, and is useable 2/day. Replaces Form of the Dragon.

On Dark Wings- Gains the On Dark Wings bloodline power. Once your bloodline is high enough for this ability, speed increases to 90'. Modifies Wings.

This is Devil/Infernal specific, unlike the original Acolyte of the Skin, but I feel it is a pretty good conversion in flavor.

The change in pre-reqs to allow prepared casters to qualify is intentional.

I'll take another look at the demoniac for input but not as a substitute. The NPC I have in mind is very much a "I'll have no master but myself."
