I have a 2nd level bard and i wish to multiclass into an oracle and i have a few questions.

1. what do I lose per say like will I still be able to do bardic perfomance, bardic knowledge etc.?

2. for sake of progression does my character count as a 3rd level( when im able to multiclass her) to get her next feat and spell list?

3. for spells know will I have to change my spells known or do i keep my bardic spells and can select form both bard and oracle spells?

1. You do not loose any class features or abilities unless the class says you loose them. (Usually this is only alignment dependent, Barbarians that become lawful can no longer rage).

2. Your character is 3rd level, and thus gets the feat you get at third level. Just like at 4th you will get an ability score increase. However, class abilities are only gained for taking the relevant level in that class. As shown on the class progression table.

3. Your Bard and Oracle spells are different. You know and can cast the spells of a 2nd level bard, as a 2nd level bard. You will also know and cast spells as a 1st level oracle, as a 1st level oracle.

As a side note: Your BAB would be that of a 2nd level bard (1) and a 1st level oracle (0) added together (1). The saves you also simply add together as indicated by the levels in the individual classes.

As another side note: Oracle class skills will now also become class skills for you.

Also note that abilities that grow with level usually refer to levels in that class, so you wont get more bardic performance rounds when you take oracle levels.

niow how does this affect spells per day? as it stands my bard at second level can do 4 1st level spells. and the orcale would be able to do 5 i dont add these together right

You will now have 2 spell lists, but your bard spell slots can only be filled/used for spells off your bard list and your oracle slots off your oracle list. They are separate.

Another thing to know is if you take 2 levels of bard, 3 levels of oracle then 2 more levels of bard, your character would be 4 levels of bard, 3 levels of oracle and over all 7 character levels.

It is generally a bad idea to multiclass a spell caster. The idea of all those spells sound good on paper, but the reality is you have lots of little spells and don’t get the more powerful spells. The durations of you spells and other level dependent factors are based on the class level not the overall level.

Higher level spells become progressively more powerful. You can do a lot more with a single higher level spell than you can with multiple low level spells. For example have a 9th level spell is a lot more powerful than having 9 1st level spells.
