This recently came up and there was a disagreement.....
Round 1: Monk draws Kama and attacks enemy A (killing it)
Round 2: Monk throws Shuriken at enemy B
Round 3: Enemy C runs past Monk provoking AoO
The question is, would the monk be able to take the AoO with the kama?
the argument was that throwing shurkien uses the primary hand and since the monk never switched the kama to his off hand he had to of dropped it, or it is in his offhand, which you cannot makes AoO from

As I understand it the monk has no off hand when it comes to his unarmed strike, so he can always make an attack of opportunity with that. Second, the primary and off hand are designated at the time of the attack. And third, I can find no rule that limits attacks of opportunity to the primary hand weapon.

A Monk can take an AoO with any weapon he is holding.
Shurikens are Ammunition and it's a free action to draw them as long as you have a free hand, which you do since all you have out is a Kama. You have your Kama in a Hand, and attack, pull a shuriken(does not provoke) and throw a shuriken(provokes in melee), then you may IUS or Kama the foe that tries to run past.
There is no Offhand for a Monk when it comes to Flurrying if I recall correctly.

Yes.
Written rules support this completely, and no FAQ currently contradicts this particular part of the rules.

This isn't just for Monks. Any character can use any weapon they have available to make an AoO. If you spend your first turn to double move and draw a pair of weapons, but didn't make any attacks, you can still make AoOs and, moreover, you can use either weapon. When you make attacks, you can make attacks up to your BAB limit with both weapons and, so long as you don't exceed your BAB allowance, it is not TWF. So a character with Armor Spikes, IUS, a Longsword in one hand, and a Dagger in the other along with +11 BAB can make up to 3 total attacks with any combination of those four weapon with no penalty and all of them get full Str bonus to damage; none of these are "off-hand attacks" because those only exist in the context of TWF. Technically, none of them are main-hand attacks either since that only exists in TWF as well. There is no "handedness" in Pathfinder; all characters are presumed ambidextrous. Furthermore, any of the four weapons can be used to make AoOs and, if you have Combat Reflexes, you don't even have to use the same weapon for each AoO in a round. Even if you did decide to TWF and declared the Longsword as your main-hand and the Dagger as your off-hand, you can still make AoOs with any of the four available weapons with no penalty (since TWF penalties ended at the end of your turn) and your AoO gets full Str to damage regardless of which weapon you use.
