Versatile Performance confusion

Rules Questions

1. Perform checks aren't subject to armor check penalties. Does that mean a Bard bypasses these penalties when he uses Versatile Performance?

2. My character sheet only has 2 Perform slots. I always thought that meant you can only put ranks in 2 Perform skills. Is that not true?

"At 6th level, and every 4 levels thereafter, the bard can select an additional type of Perform to substitute."

At level 10, that's 3 Perform skills. How does that work? If I pick String, Sing and Dance, what is the bonus on the Dance check? Cha mod only?

.

1) I don't know, I rarely play bards wearing armor with a check penalty.

2) You can put points into as many Perform skills as you want & have points for.

Reference my answer to question #2.

1. When using Versatile Performance, you are substituting the Perform skill for another skill. Any bonuses or penalties to your Perform skill apply, while any bonuses or penalties to the other skill do not.

Yes, this means you can dance through the sky without worrying about armor.

2. There's no limit, but you have to spend a skill point for each type (e.g., oratory, dance).

The only skill in versatile I see with ACP is Dance (Acrobatics, Fly). But you swap bonuses not skill checks, so you are making Acrobatics checks (with associated ACP) using your ranks in Perform Dance instead of your ranks in Acrobatics.

But there is difference in opinion:
My interpretation of "in place of its associated skill's bonus" is that you are making Acrobatics checks and using your bonus in Perform Dance instead of your bonus in Acrobatics, but applying any penalty to Acrobatics checks you may have to the bonus from perform.

You can have as many Perform skills as you put ranks into, ignore any limit your sheet is imposing. That comes from your sheet's author thinking no one would want more than 2.

+1 to what James said.

Also, I believe because you are making "skill checks" instead of having the actual skill, feats like Deceitful should give bonuses to the skill checks even while using performance.

Incorrect. You are substituting the bonus, not the check. So you use the skill (fly for example) as if it had the bonus of your perform (dance).

Also have to say it... If you character sheet only had room for three weapons, does that mean you couldn't carry a sword, dagger, bow and axe?
If so, look for another character sheet. :)

Usually the sheets with limited craft/knowledge/perform/profession lines have blank lines at the bottom you can use to write in more options.
