What consitiues energy damage?

Rules Questions

Working on a sorceror, air elemental bloodline, for the purpose of the "can change the energy damage of a spell" what consitutes energy, I'm assuming electric, acid, fire, cold but are things like force and sonic considered energy?

Silver Crusade

Sonic is, but it is not normally one that can be changed to the four basic types. Look to the Elemental Spell metamagic feat.

Back in 3.5 these were more clearly indicated.

Force is not an energy type but Sonic is. However, I believe the intent is that sonic is not intended to be eligible for the elemental bloodlines.

The intent (seems to me) to be from one elemental energy type to another elemental energy type. Sonic is not one of the traditional 4 elements.

I wonder what it would be like, the Elemental Plane of Sound...

It would have the greatest acoustics ever.

Since all matter is a wave, it could be argued that the material plane is the Elemental Plane of Sound.

But the reverb and feedback are just awful.

I would go with fire, acid, electrical, cold, and sonic.

Force is not normally an "energy" and positive and negative energies are not normally included, despite being described as "energy."

Yep, those are traditional Big Five, with Sonic usually excluded from "change type" abilities
