Washington, D.C. area rise of the rune lords game. I'd prefer to play, but I will GM if necessary. 4-6 players. Who wants in?

I may be interested. Where, what day/time, and how often were you thinking? (You wrote Washington D.C. "area," so I'm not sure if you meant D.C. proper or the region in general.)

I live in the District, but work and go to school in Arlington (Ballston area). I can probably make it to games in the District & NOVA, but Maryland would be rough. I'd be up for something--probably weekend afternoons, but possibly weeknights if we can start later when I'm done with classes. Probably every other week works best for me.

What about you?

Once or twice a month would work best for me. I already run a game once a month (AD&D), so I wouldn't want to overdo it. Do you know of anyone else who's interested?

tempting . . .

3 is a start! I don't know of anybody else locally though. I could try checking around though...

Grand Lodge

In. I live in Arlington as well. Shoot me a pm.

Okay. Szath/Ben(?) sent me an email awhile back looking for a game and asked if I'd be willing to run one. After giving it much thought, I emailed him and said that I probably couldn't take on running a game at the moment, but I can't get it out of my head, so now I'm leaning towards saying what the hell. So, I want to check interest.

IF (<--- big IF) I decide to do it, I'm debating maybe Crypt of the Everflame, which combines with Masks of the Living God and City of Golden Death to make a mini-campaign. Although I've played in plenty of pbp games on these boards, it's been forever since I sat at a table, much less ran a game, so I would be looking to keep things simple, and maybe just use the Beginner Box rules. Another possibility would be 0One games Basic Paths: Fangs from the Past, which does just that, and which also combines with two other adventures to make a mini-campaign. Gladior, I know you threw RotRL out there, and I'd probably be willing to run something like that once I work out the kinks with something easier, and assuming all goes well.

IF I decide to do this, I'm thinking every other or every third Sunday afternoon, depending on peoples' availability, and I could potentially host in the conference room at my office, which is right near the Courthouse metro stop in Arlington. Needless to say, I would want a group who likes to role play as well as roll play, and who would be willing to be patient with me running a game.

So, what say ye? Whose interested? What are you thoughts on those adventures? What about full rules v. Beginner Box rules? Also, tell me about yourselves. I'll start: I'm 41, a lawyer and a dad to two wonderful little girls. I started playing D&D with the red box set way back about 1983, and have played on & off since then, although like I said, I've just been playing in pbp games here on the Paizo boards for the last few years.

Hey everyone,

I live in Arlington, so if the game is in Arlington, I could play any weeknight except Wednesday. I am not available for gaming on Sundays, though.

A little about me: I'm in my late 40s and have been an RPG lover since the early 80s, when I first got into AD&D. I currently run a monthly AD&D game at my place in Arlington, but I find Pathfinder pretty interesting. I've played it before as well as 3.5, so I'm fairly familiar with the rules, but it has been a while, and I'm not clear on all the differences between Pathfinder and D&D 3.5. I know the differences are minimal, though, and PF has been called D&D 3.75 to reflect that.

Honestly, I prefer to run games than to play in them, but given the fact that I am running a game already and I need to get more familiar with Pathfinder, I would hold off on running a game right now.

I am more of a role-player than a roll-player. I have a tendency to play characters with some kind of personality that have an effect on the story. Tactics and combat are fun, but I prefer that stuff to take up about 25% of game time. But that's just me.

Also, keep in mind that rotating DMs is always a possibility.

Hey everyone, I just created a Facebook group for Pathfinder in the DC metro area. The URL is: https://www.facebook.com/groups/303785006431079/.

Game on!

I would go cookoo for Cocoa Puffs over a chance to play this triumvirate of adventures. I really like the Lake Encathran area--it's one of the most interesting in the Inner Sea region with some very interesting background conflicts that make for a lot of opportunities for really good role-playing (with the emphasis on the "e" in "role").

I have recently started a PbP game and I just can't get enough right now. I need a bigger fix! I would be thrilled to play. I'm 32 and work during the day for a trade association and go to law school at night. On the plus side, my work's in Ballston and my school's in Virginia Square. I am usually at the office on the weekends studying, but I can slip away for an opportunity to get together for a good gaming group. With classes at night during the week, weekends are going to be best for me. Every other is going to be better for me and I can keep myself accountable to coming to all sessions that way in a way that I can't every week.

As far as rules are concerned, I believe in Pathfinder rules, but with a strict provision on throwing the rules away when they get in the way of the story. BB rules seem to do that just a little more naturally. I'm good with whatever system you'd like to ground the game in...

Please, please, please can we play???? Also, is anybody going to DC Free Game Day?

Hey, Gladior, my apologies but a few of us have been emailing each other and pulled friends in and now it looks like we're on our way to putting together a game on Tuesday nights. I'm going to guess you have class that night? Having done the law school grind while working, I can totally understand your need to blow off some steam with a good escape. I also imagine we might be doing the occasional weekend one off, maybe with PFS scenarios, so shoot me an email and I'll keep you in mind. I'm at billwittig [at] mac . com.

Good luck with studies, too.

Shadow Lodge

I can play on the weekend. Are you near the metro? Where are you?

@Billzabub: Thanks for the kind words. It's disappointing to see a thread you start end up with a game that you can't play in, but I appreciate everybody's scheduling issues and very much appreciate the invitation to play one offs and such. Good luck to your campaign and I'll have to hope that there are others locally that are interested in playing over a weekend. Thanks for your contact info. I will be in touch.

@Asphere: I'm looking to get some live gaming going. Most weekends I'm at Ballston or Virginia Square (office and campus, respectively). What's your interest in playing and where are you?

Shadow Lodge

I am in Silver Spring, MD. I am down to play anything. I don't want to GM (already doing that with another group).

Is there still room here? I'm GMing a game, but I'd love to be a player in somebody else's game. For some reason, I'm really in the mood to play a debuffing spellcaster. I could potentially meet on Saturdays a couple times a month.

Franchisee - Game Kastle College Park

It seems like we've got a good number of people who are interested. I would offer to GM, but know that I will have limited/no prep time. I was thinking it would be fun to play a cleric--I've never tried being a divine spellcaster before.

Shadow Lodge

I would like to play a Magus.

Well, if we're sounding out character concepts, I've got my eye on playing an enchanter. Or maybe an enchanting sorcerer.

Shadow Lodge

Are we doing this or what? I am free most weekends. So far I see

Pennywit
Asphere (me)
Gladior

Do we have a fourth? Also, any GMs? I am currently GMing another game so I would prefer to be a player.

I can't GM. But for our first adventure, I suggest that we assist the owners of Blackacre in a dispuute with the owners of Whiteacre.

Id be interested in joining ya'll if your still looking for players.

Franchisee - Game Kastle College Park

This thread kind of got dropped--I had some personal stuff come up but am now checked back in.

@redviiper: What we are really looking for I think is a GM. Any interest?

Hi, I see there's some interest again. I can join the group if we Saturday morning/afternoon two or three times a month. The group I'm GMing meets Sundays. As I said above, I'd definitely prefer playing over GMing. That said, I could step into GM responsibilities if needed. I'm currently running Kingmaker in my other group, and I could run KM for you guys as well. I could even make it Mythic Kingmaker.

Silver Crusade

Any chance room exists for another player or two? A friend and I would love to join a Friday night game with long term opportunity. We are both RPG savvy, with some Pathfinder amongst decades of experience.

Thanks for the help!

Ben

I haven't heard about anything happening with this, Ben. But I'm open to GMing and/or hosting a Saturday afternoon game a couple times a month in Alexandria. If I GM, it's probably going to be Kingmaker.
