Ratfolk and Peasents

How do you think the average peasant would treat an average Ratfolk? I feel like people would treat them no different than halflings or gnomes but a guy I know says that they would be treated like monsters and looked down upon. Especially in Taldor. Thoughts?

Maybe I just think Ratfolk look so cute that everyone would love them.

It depends really heavily on the social norms for mortal races in the shared world that you both inhabit as run by the current GM.

Ratfolk certainly do receive prejudice against them, as written, but they are able to adapt, and the prejudice isn't so great as to drive them to near extinction or even out of cities.

From what I gather from reading the texts, though I could be wrong, they receive about as much prejudice as Tengu - that is to say, where they exist people know it and might not trust them, but don't actively try to kill them; where they don't exist, they could be mistaken for were-rats, which might cause severe problems for them.

They would probably want to kill them, since the enemy of the peasant farmer is the rat.

I imagine they would want to slay them to stop them eating all the corn or wheat.

I could see Taldans looking down on Ratfolk. I am sure there are places nobody would care too. Maybe the shackles?

Silver Crusade

It's gonna differ a lot by region, as with most any other race. Even places as geographically close as Kaer Maga and Korvosa are going to have very different directions.

Also, note to self: Never have a ratfolk barbarian PC locked in a cage. Don't need to be giving them any excuses.

Yeah, the Shackles gets called out as a place anyone could get by quite often. Wayfinder #8 actually provided some really nice art for a Shackles ratfolk character...

Depends on the region.

And if it's in pre-Inner Sea World Guid Golarion, it's going to depend on the reigon. ;)
