If i have a fourth level paladin and take a level in cavalier with the beast rider archetype with the boon companion feet my companion would be level five
So my questions are the Beast rider Archetype says at level 4 i can get a better mount so does the boon companion feat qualify me for that or would i actually have to take 4 levels in cavalier
Second if my next level made me level 5 paladin would my my mount stack with my cavalier's druid levels and if so would what level would it be?
since my paladin level would count as 5 and my cavalier would effectively count as 5?

The improved mount selection is a feature granted by you being a lvl 4 beast rider, not your mount being a 5 HD creature. You would have to take four total levels of Cavalier (beast rider) to qualify.
Since your character is Paladin 4/Cavalier 1 your total character level is 5, but your paladin and cavalier levels do not stack for the purposes of gaining class features unless the class feature specifically mentions it (like getting Uncanny Dodge from two classes, for example).
