Wrath of the Righteous

The Exchange

So I read the campaign outline, and couldn't help but notice that it is nonchalantly informed to GMs reading the outline that PCs will encounter Ieomedae at the start of adventure number 5!!!

I mean, I was mentally prepared for demon lords but this... this is a whole new level of mythic scope.

I don't even have much to say about it, except that it took me by surprise, and I'm looking forward with anticipation to see what comes from that encounter. How is a GM even supposed to roleplay a god? how do I create a special enough feeling for the encounter?

As a side note, it's interesting that Iomedae's herald had a role in this adventure. Given that by the time the PC meet the herald, they will be about 16th level with 6 mythic tiers, meaning they will be so superpowered, they would barely even notice what the herald can do. I like that there are so many gods and their pawns in this story, but I feel that a herald works better as a story element when it's stronger than the PCs...

A 16th level party with 6 mythic tiers each is supposed to be APL 19 or so, I think. Heralds are only CR 15, so they've been outpacing stuff on that level for a little while at that point. It will be interesting to see Iomedae's characterisation, I agree. RPing gods can easily get very difficult if done carelessly, but I would hope (expect, really) that there'll be some guidelines for how to RP her in the adventure itself.

What will be more interesting to me is any Continuing the Campaign article. Because at 20th level with 10 Mythic tiers, I'd really like to see what sort of threats are around that such a party would be dealing with. Short of heading on up to Irrisen for a throwdown with Dear Grandmother, there probably isn't going to be much statted-up stuff left for them to go after, depending on what's in Mythic Realms. Even Tar-Baphon will only be about CR 27 or so, from what I remember of comments that Paizo staff have made.

One wonders if the PC's would not have to be removed from Golarion, to protect the balance of the setting. ^^

I, too would like to see what could challenge end game pcs with that kind of power...My players long term characters are probably ner to that kind of power now!

I am so out of threats to challenge them anymore...at least they like their lower level heroes so much they say they'll wait for the last few chapters of this adventure to consider dusting them off.

Mythic tiers are also designed to be taken away...so they characters might be "only" CR 20 at the end.
